"γεια σας is hello. Easy enough," he said, repeating the word slowly to try and get used to the foreign consonants. The language seemed to fit the locale, he thought. Ancient, smooth. It sounded better when Alastor said it, but there was a simple joy to learning, one that he had quite forgotten. Perhaps he should have been embarrassed, as he thought his accent clashed with the words, but he found himself remarkably free from worrying about his appearance. A liberating feeling, he thought, and so he didn't question it.

Aesop did his best to keep up, the strange syllables heavy on his graceless tongue. "Πώς είσαι," he repeated, then, "Είμαι μεγάλος. Am I doing that right? Correct me if I fuck it up, I think even my gentle ego can handle it. Πώς είσαι, Πώς είσαι, Πώς είσαι." With each stumble, he laughed, a low chuckle at his own mistakes, then picked himself up and tried again. "Maybe a bit slower, I'm not so quick as that," he said, then, "Είμαι μεγάλος. And if Είμαι μεγάλος is wrong, and I'm not great?" He was surprised by much fun he was having, weighty though his memories may be. Perhaps, all this time, letting go was as simple as this?
