Scarlett politely declined Koda's escort. The male wanted to insist. He didn't feel comfortable letting Scarlett travel alone, knowing the dangers that faced a pretty lone she-wolf out in the big nasty world. But he bit his tongue knowing better than to push the issue. He'd only just met the girl, it wasn't his job to look after her. Besides, he had a girlfriend to get back to.

Koda was pleasantly surprised when Scarlett suggested meeting up again sometime. He thought a moment. He realized that he wanted to see Scarlett again, which made him feel a little guilty. He forced the feeling back. It wasn't like he was going to betray Kesuk, why did he have to feel conflicted over wanting to visit a friend? Maybe she'd even come with him.

"I'd like to come see where you live," he replied, "see what kind of game there is to hunt way up north." He'd heard stories about big wooly animals with massive horns, supposed to be one of the most dangerous hunts. He wondered if he'd find such a creature. "I'll definitely come calling if I'm ever in the area," he told her. He turned back to the path that would lead him back to the plateau, looking over at the white wolf for the last time. "Well, see you later," he said as he started to walk away. He walked a few paces and suddenly stopped to look back again. "Please be careful on your way back, I'd feel just awful if I found out something happened to you." With a deep breath, he forced himself to look away and keep going.
