Fish in his mouth and Squirrel by his side, life went well for the emotionally conflicted brute with a passion for protecting his home and a heart for the souls on these mountains. He hadn't seen Ezimette in a while, nor had he seen Noctura after he was bathed in blood. Well, he had seen the other male when they were shit on by the locusts, but that didn't count. He wanted to forget it ever happened, though every look upon this land reminded him of the terrible event. It was saddening to see, as if the mountains had became even more cold and stone-like. It was like his heart before Ezi had wiped it clean with even the slightest brush of her silky white fur.
And there they went, a cream and a black, side by side on their way to their tribe leader, the one and only dragoness, the true queen of this part of the mountain, Asterr. At first, Jolon had felt pulled toward her by some magnetic field, but all had changed when he had met Ezimette. Not to say that Asterr wasn't equally as beautiful and wonderful, but he knew his place was besides the sister of the lithe squirrel.
Soon they reached the place the scent of Asterr was the strongest, and there Jolon stopped. He felt the need to knock on a door before he could come into Asterr's personal space, and so he did, in his own way.
Asterr? He called out, voice slightly muffled by the fish he was carrying for the two of them. It wasn't much, but it was given with love and respect, and the idea alone that the brute would go out of his to share his meal was surely something.

Texi kept pace as best she could with the taller male, legs moving at a quick pace as she scurried to keep up with him. Their walk was quiet on the way to Asterr, neither speaking around the fish they carried. Jolon seemed preoccupied with his thoughts and Texiceia left him to them, falling comfortably into silence.
Texi was a bit shy about speaking with the Chieftess again, having only spoken to her at the border when joining not so long ago. The arctic wolf kept close to Jolly, waiting as he called out for Asterr and wondering if the Alpha possibly knew anything about her missing sister.

"...a cream and a black..." The Coffee Couple! o:
Since the swarms had hit them, the girl had spent much of her time observing the land and tracking the regrowth process. Thus far, nothing green could be found, but she did not give up hope. Eventually, it would all return to them, and she would be aware of it the second that happened. For the time being, however, there was little more she could do than wait. Wait and watch, keeping an eye on the level of prey that did remain. Birds, hares, fish—often were their kind plentiful, but still she watched over each population within the lair, wanting to keep things that way. It was relatively easy work for her, but tiring still, for her energy was lacking. Small prey could only provide so much, she'd realized, yet the girl tried often to not let it deter her. As a vessel, she was born with the strength of those that had come before her, and she would not dishonour their memories by acting in any other way.
Asterr had been lounging, for once, giving her body a break from her excessive movements when a voice had caught her attention. It was Jolon, though her name sounded muffled as it exited his mouth. Curious, she'd pulled herself to her feet and moved forward to greet him, abandoning her resting place for the time being. When she'd seen him, she'd noticed immediately why he had sounded the way he did, and was then drawn to Texi's presence. To both she'd nodded in greeting, offering a small smile before settling her gaze back on the male. "That is a lovely catch," she noted, gently praising him for a job well done. "Was retrieving it difficult?" Though it was rather indirect, Asterr's true purpose for asking was due, in part, to her interest in how the tribe was faring. Surely the famine was hitting them hard, but if they could manage to fish, then perhaps matters wouldn't be quite as bad.

Standing as frozen as his voice was cold, he waited for the chieftess. He was excited to see how she would react to his first caught fish ever, and couldn't wait to try it with her. If it was good, Jolon would fish for the time being. At least fish didn't make him run from place to place, though it did take more concentration.
After not even so very long, a shadow approached, one that was petite and shaped like the dragoness. He could recognize her anywhere, having been with her for so very long. He adjusted his tail to between the two women, as that was his place, and then placed the dead, slippery fish on the ground. It was actually quite a big catch. Sure, it wouldn't keep him or anyone going for long, but it was something. He simply sparkled with pride, for this was really something after all his groundwork he had done for hunting. At her questions, he shook his massive black head.
Not as difficult as catching a fox, yet not as easy as catching a rabbit. He replied.
Sucky post, excuse meh XD

Texi lay her fish down as Jolon did, making no response since the male's words summed up fishing rather competently. Shifting back to Jolly after laying down the slippery vertebrate, her blue eyes flicked between the two inquistively as they exchanged words.
Truth be told, Texi was a background character wherever she went. The arctic wolf was the quiet type, speaking when spoken to and offering little more than that. Perhaps if she met the right person she would speak more but for the time being she kept to her habits of staying in the back and watching everything solemnly.

The dragoness looked to the fish, glancing it over a few times before returning her attention to the male and female. It was a decent sized catch, she'd noted, but never would fish be enough to keep them functioning at their full capacities. Only when the greenery and herds returned would they be able to truly thrive, she knew, but that did not make her any less proud of her friend's success. He'd managed to get a grasp on the slippery being, and for long enough to still the beating of its heart. It was a good day, despite all that had happened leading up to it. "I am glad that you did not struggle," the girl voiced, offering a smile to him before looking over to his silent companion. "I feel the same for you, Texiceia." Both had done a wonderful job, and the tasks that they'd completed would not be forgotten so soon. They had contributed to the health of the tribe, and had, in turn, earned her favour for the time being. It was unclear for how long it may last, however, as the chieftess had never been a supporter of favourtism.
"Have either of you noticed any others taking advantage of our water sources?" Asterr asked, looking between them. She did not ask about the fishes that they'd brought with them, nor would she demand that either share. They were a family, but that meant putting the needs of others ahead of one's own, which is what the girl often felt herself in need of doing. "I am not sure who all within our family is capable of fishing, which has made me wonder who is able to do so." It would be a terrible thing if more were unable to fend for themselves than those that could.

A proud look painted the normally cold man as the dragoness looked his catch over. Perhaps if it had been anyone else looking at his meal-their meal- he would've attacked right now, for such drastic matters applied to these dreadful times.
We are all struggling.he replied happier than he had intended. He was not happy many souls on the mountain were starving, nor was he particularly fond of having no plants around, but his victory in catching something was so overwhelming that he almost forgot. He did not forget, however, that his little flame was missing. Did Asterr know of this, too?
Jolon shook his head in a "no".
No one.He answered.
But if anyone is, they are doing a good job of hiding it. We will find them, though, right Squirrel? He chipped to the sister of his flame. He nosed the fish a bit closer to Asterr to indicate she could have a piece if she wanted before commenting.
We are able, though I am not sure about the rest.jolon replied.
Speaking about the rest, have you seen Ezimette around lately?

Texi dipped her head to Asterr as she was addressed, making no comment as once more Jolon summed it up. The famine was hard on all, lone wolf and pack wolf alike.
"The newest girl, Qamar, she fishes as well." Her voice was soft, she had always been quiet in nature. Blue eyes flicked to Jolly at his question, nodding in agreement. "She seems to have disappeared. I don't know whether to be worried about her or not. Do you have any idea where she might be?" Texi spoke up, pleading silently that the Chieftess would have some kind of knowledge about her sister.

The male had spoken of struggles, though his tone of voice was most concerning. It'd sounded almost joyous, she'd noted, but quickly had she related his enthusiasm so the fact that he had caught something. Any meal was worth being proud of, she believed, and so that had to be it. Her thoughts were further pushed along by her knowledge on the type of wolf that Jolon was, feeling confident that he would never find happiness in the misery of others. No, that was not him, she was certain of it. Thus, there had been no comments made upon his way of speaking, letting it slip by as if she'd never even noticed.
Following his comment, there had come an answer to her query. No one had been spotted borrowing from their resources, it seemed, but for how long that would last she could not predict. It made her glad to know that the two would keep an eye out, and she'd placed her faith in them—they would keep their home free of unwanted guests, and ensure that only those of the tribe would live off of what the earth had to offer them. Jolon had spoken more than the female, answering the first question by himself, and then being the first to share his mind for the second. It seemed as if the man and woman were faring well with the fishing, as was Qamar, according to the latter. At that, Asterr had nodded, offering a smile to the both of them and then recalling her first meeting with Qamar. The female had spoken of being decent at fishing, and so the chieftess could expect nothing less from her. Still, it was good to know that she'd not abandoned her skills, and was instead bettering them through necessary trials.
Off of her question, another had bounced, causing for the girl's ears to fall back slightly. Ezimette was brought up, her whereabouts unknown, and the dragoness found that she possessed no way of truly easing their worried minds. "I believe that Ezimette has left us once again," the girl began, looking between the pair. "This time, I am skeptical of her return, for she knew the risks of leaving again when I had allowed for her to rejoin us. If she has gone away once more despite my warning, then... I am sorry, for the both of you, and the companion that you have each lost." Even if the pale woman was to return, there was no way of telling for sure whether or not Asterr would allow her back into their home. A second chance had already been given and, yet again, a vow had been broken.

Yeah XD Sorry for the short post, I didn't know what to do with this thread anymore.
How... unfortunate. He sighed as the happiness he had been feeling from catching something faded away with his smile. Of course. How could he have ever thought Ezimette would stay around longer than a month. Hatred and sadness were growing inside of him and his appetite vanished as a whole. He shoved the fish all the way to Asterr. He was mad now, and he didn't want to take it out on anyone but himself.
Without another word, he slowly departed to go find a spot to hate. It was not like the man to act like this in front of Asterr, but she had to understand that everyone could feel down.

Squirrel said nothing as Jolon practically shoved the fish at Asterr, leaving moments after. She figured of everyone here that she understood his emotions the best. Texi herself was already feeling a lump form in her throat, anger swelling in her chest.
"Thank you," she murmured for the condolences, unsure what else to say. "I don't blame you Asterr, you have to do what you must," she tried to assure, hoping to make up for Jolon's angry departure. Texi tried to smile as she passed over her fish though it was more like a saddened grimace.
I blame myself for thinking any of my family was worth redemption. With a respectful nod, Texiceia padded away in a separate direction feeling numb.

Short post to wrap this up.
Jolon had been the first to take his leave, his catch having been left behind. She'd watched him wander away, trailing after him with her gaze until he could no longer be seen. Thereafter, she'd looked to Texiceia, listening as she'd started to speak. A nod had been offered in response to her words, until the moment had then arrived in which the pale figure had also departed. Again, Asterr had watched the wolf until her form was no longer visible. Alone once more, the girl gathered up the two fish and set out in search of Leo, wishing to offer to him a necessary meal.
