Makui was determined to prove himself to his new home. His mind was on the pups, he was totally ignorant of the fact that one of the tiny bundles of fur had died. Today he would hunt for them, and hopefully present Steady with a catch he could tike to them. He had his eye and a pheasent plucking it's way along the forest floor, snaping at whatever green vegetation was brave enough to enter the barren world first. Makui dropped into a smooth crouch, and stalked closer to the stupid bird. With a snarl, he sprang, hind-paws pushing off the ground and sailing toward the feast.
His paws met dirt.
The bird screeched and fled through the forest, winging away into the tree tops. With a growl, Makui scored his claws against the ground. If only he was not such a bad hunter. He gave the bird his best death-glare as it faded into the distance, wishing it would spontaniously blow up.

Niita had scented the groundhog back to its den, where she crouched for nearly two hours in the hopes that it would pop its head up. Keeping out of sight by the back of the opening, Niita nearly missed the creature's head as it popped upwards out of the hole.
Before the groundhog could dart backwards into its den, Niita snatched up in her jaws and crunched down. With the gaunt but sufficient prey hanging from her maw, the pale waif began to make her way back towards the den with it.
Coming across a male, one who smelt vaguely of the other pack wolves, she assumed he was a recruit. Stopping near him, Niita lay the groundhog at his feet and gave him a friendly smile. "Hi. I'm Niita."

She was stunning. Also, perhaps 100 kilometers out of his league. Which, of course, made him fall for the arctic beauty immedietly. He offered her a bold smile, eyes gleaming. About three hundred pick-up lines raced through his mind, all of which he immediatley rejected. He was new, and couldn't go around flirting with all the girls now, could he? "Hey, Niita. The name's Makui" he said.
He gestured toward her prey with his muzzle. "Nice catch. My stupid bird got away, which sucks. I wanted something for the pups"

Short post is well, short. :D Sorry!

not again!
He was a reddish brown male, marred with black. He was nowhere near Steady's size but slightly larger than she. Niita nodded politely at him. "It's a pleasure to meet you, Makui."
"You'll get your chance. But when you do catch something don't go into the clearing or anywhere near it. Steady gets kinda mad." Niita had only received a reprimand, while Steady had looked ready to tear into Phocion.

Makui nodded at the female's words. "Ah, yes. He said there was a...grace period? But I was hoping to get something for them anyways. I'de like to prove to them that I'm not a pycho child-eater." He said. He was not going anywhere near the pups at all before then, or thier mother may gut him. He had had a couple experiences with fuming mothers, and it was never pretty. It seemed, as soon as you gave birth, you suddenly came into possesion of raw, unbridled power to direct at anyone who may be a threat. Nope, Makui was in no hurry to go meeting the pups and their mother yet.

"Yeah, it's to make sure that you're not basically." Niita agreed with a chuckle. The thought of letting him pass off her groundhog as his own occured to her but that wasn't right. As nice as Makui seemed Niita wasn't willing to get in trouble because of him.
sorry it's short

Hmm, I thought that I had replied-obviously not. Sory for the wait!
Makui chucked with her, wondering if he should ask her to hunt with him, perhaps. But no- she already had her catch, and he didn't want to be annoying. He would spend some more time speaking with the pretty lady, then move on and try his luck again. Maybe, he would try fishing. He had learned a few pointers here and there, and wondered if he could recover them from his memory. "Have you hunted with these wolves for a while now?" she sounded as if she had been here a while. He wondered how long, exactly. Maybe she could give him pointers on how to act around them.

that's fine, I do it all the time!
"Believe it or not, I've only been here a few days. It feels much longer though." Niita mused aloud, already thinking of Silvertip Mountain as home. The wolves here already felt like family and it seemed she had been there forever.
"Where do you come from?" Niita cocked her head to the side, a habit, wanting to get to know her new pack mate. They could be friends perhaps. After all they were both rather new to the pack.
