It was time for him to step down. Not out of force or illness, but because it was time. Emily had been gone far too long, and though he knew her tendency to wander-- he could not stand knowing that she had been alright, and now she was gone. With a heavy heart, the man made a call to the territory. He was leaving, this was goodbye.
Before this, he had gone to @Amara, who was with child. They were not his, this he knew, and the sight of her now brought tears to his eyes. Betrayed by the woman he loved most-- such irony. But he loved her still, and told her his plans of departure were not her fault. He held her one last time before he left, praying her children would grow to be happy, healthy, and loved. Though she would not leave, he hoped that she'd stay long after her children were born.
Then he went to @Liri, who was like a sister to him. She was there for him always and cared deeply for him-- and respected him above all. She was a wonderful wolf, one he would miss greatly. He gave the pack to her, and Samuel if he would ever return. He then would remind her of her strength, and to keep it in times of hardship. She was a wonderful woman, and he only prayed that a kind man would one day take her hand-- one that would not leave.
@Minna and @Leto he had seen the other day. They knew he had approved their love, and that he cared greatly for them. He need not visit again, and so he did not.
He did not visit @Lilith, for her place in the pack was still unwelcome.
To @Sen, he offered the position as Beta, for he knew in his gut that she would be a wonderful leader. She had experience, and would help Liri along her way to success. He had given a quick goodbye to @Chusi, who he prayed would stick around to make friends with Amara's pups, and teach them the wonders of the world.
He did not talk to @Zephyr Maverick, for he did not know the man well enough.
When he had finished, he had pulled herbs and a meal from their stores, and set off. He gave a long howl of his farewell to the pack, listening for their responding calls. Then, the man left. He stepped from his beloved kingdom, his crown dropping to the ground with a dainty clang. He walked far and long, praying that one day, perhaps, he would return with his sister. He sent prayers for Liri, that she would lead the pack well, and for Amara, that she would wait for him. Or perhaps find a man that would treat her better, for deep down he knew that he was not the man he should've been to her, that she deserved better.
Without another word, the man was gone, and was not to be seen for a long time to come.
