The inky youth was growing fond of the glen and the flickering lights who acted as guardians over her small frame. Lucy knew that she could not keep herself there for long – that she would need to find a new home before they came searching for her again. The fear that fueled her was almost feral, but she knew that she could not excuse it and call it instinct. She was just frightful and she did not have the strength to face her fears. That made her ill. She was truly turning to the shadows. As long as she maintained control over her life and her destination, she felt as though she would be able to endure anything that came her way.
Slinking out of the makeshift den she had crafted, Lucy peered up through the trees toward the sky. Clouds flitted overhead with a blueish pink background. The sun would be setting soon, and that meant that the fireflies would emerge. A pleasant beat struck her heart, and the young girl wondered faintly if Cypress would visit her in the glen, or if he was too disappointed in her. Only time would tell, she supposed.

Okay, so she knew Sebastian had wanted her to stay close - Pearl was expecting puppies and their numbers were few, and Ambrosia was a strong warrior. But long to her meant, like, a week.... Being gone for twenty four hours, to her, was nothing.
It was nearing the end of the day - Ambrosia had just caught a plump rabbit for dinner, and she sought out a field in witch to see the stars. Living on the fen had her accustomed to being in more open spaces. Padding into the glen, she was stunned to not just smell but see the lithe, tiny for of a little girl.
Lowering herself in an effort to look smaller - less threatening - Ambrosia held out the rabbit and chuffed softly in offering. Hopefully, the girl would be easy to trust, hopefully she'd just wandered away from home and the Mercenary could simply lead her back to whence she came.

It did not take long before the scent of a stranger was upon the broken child. Fear gripped her like a steel bear trap, and she moved to conceal herself as well as she could. With a gaze of vibrant blue, the shadow watched the approaching figure and she cowered against the threat of the unknown. Her inky figure did not do well in that environment. Try as she might, Lucy was too dark to hide herself well enough, but she was adamant about keeping out of sight. She feared what might become of her if she was to be taken away once more. More than this, she was petrified of the idea that she might find a family as kind as Rannoch and Cypress' and that she would tear it apart as well. Lucy had already taken so much from the Frostfur wolves... could she do it again to another?
Crouching low to the earth, the child bared her fangs in an attempt to appear frightening. The violent shaking of her limbs did not cease, though, and her pelt pricked with terror.

The ink blot moved to hide, and Ammie fell fully to her stomach, allowing her chin to rest between her paws on the earth and loosing a whimper through the pelt of her prey. The poor girl was scared, baring her tiny little fangs and shivering in her dark pelt.
"It's okay, little one, I won't hurt you -- are you hungry?"
The tawny woman pressed herself to thr ground, tail wagging gently behind her in hopes to look more welcoming. The girl might not even be able to talk, or understand, but any wolf could read body language, right? Putting the rabbit down and nudging it towards the girl, Ammie cooed softly to get her attention.

Comforting words met the young child's ears. She furrowed her brows and watched as the strange woman lowered herself so that she was flattened to the earth. It worked well enough to make her appear less daunting, but nothing did quite so well as the rabbit that was clasped in her teeth. In a single movement, she had lowered the prey animal to the earth and nudged it forward. Lucy watched with a feverish hunger in her gaze. The scent of the prey animal was enough to make her mind swim with second thoughts. Perhaps she could trust this woman... she thought to herself with a small frown. She knew that she would die there if she did not eat soon.
With a tentative step forward, the shadow child cast her youthful blue gaze on the woman. Was she sure she wanted to offer this rabbit to Lucy? A soft cant of her head and a quiet whine was emitted from her mouth as she gazed hungrily at the meal. It wasn't right to accept this - she had done nothing to deserve the food, and yet... the rumbling in her gut was vicious.
