All Welcome
She was even more surprised than the mouse when her jaws closed around it's small, old body. As soon as she had it in her maw she immediately dropped it, so surprised she was. But she acted quickly when it tried to slip away at a almost comically slow speed, crunching it between her jaws and holding it there as her tail wagged excitedly behind her.

Then it it sunk in that she had actually gotten a mammal, not a frog or beetle, and she was off, catch held between her jaws as she crashed through drifts of fallen leaves, searching for someone to tell about her magnificent catch.

Chaska went out to see Althaia's pups after he heard the news. He had meant to before, but had put it off. But now seemed like a good time. He found one of them, or he guessed it was one of them, but did not come forward and only watched. She seemed to be growing to a hunter. And she seemed to enjoy that. He couldn't help but have a little smile, yet also feel sad for what her mother had missed.

He came out after the catch was successful, stopping short in front of the bush he came through. "Hi there. What you got there?" he asked, lowering his head to their level.

Her crashing run was cut short quickly, and she squinted up at the form of another, not knowing him yet not knowing strangers to ever be a threat, she mumbled something excitedly around her catch. When she realized that this was a bad idea, she dropped it at her paws, placing one protectively over it as she grinned up at the male and her tail wagged excitedly.

"Look! Is hunt 'Ouse!" She told him in an excited rush, beaming widely as she poked the mouse, immensely proud. Then did she have an idea, and told him quite meter of faculty, "Is for 'Kai. I'm a good hunt." She said with pride, while body wiggling I feared excitement as she spoke, though her paw did not move from mover the mouse.

Chaska looked down at the catch the pup made and smiled lightly. "That's a good catch you have there." She spoke rather quickly, and he could easily see she was a very energetic, very excited pup. "You've done quite well." He didn't let the sadness he had for the mother show, and only showed joy for the pup's accomplishment.

The name she mentioned raised a brow. "Kai? A sibling of yours?" he asked. How thoughtful of her. "That is very kind of you. And you are quite a good hunt."

She beamed widely at the praises, her whole body wiggling madly as her tail beat behind her and propelled her entire body into movement. Excitement quickly expressed the the quick maneuver, she nodded her head quickly at his question. "Mhm. Kai my brother!" She told him matter of factly, blue eyes already glancing around the barren trees as if expecting her brother to appear, and quickly. She glanced at the man with a titl of her head, asking sweetly, "Help find Kai?" It seemed adults always knew where everyone was, and asking sweetly always helped.

Her brother. He had guessed that. And she seemed very excited to point that out. When she asked him to help, he just couldn't say no to the sweet little pup. "Of course. Where should we look first?" he asked back. Perhaps their den would be a good place to look first. If not, they could look elsewhere. Besides, he had the rest of the day to do this.

He spoke, but something else had caught her attention entirely. Some sort of ground squirrel stood but a short distance away, and her eyes brightened as her tail waved a moment eagerly, staring straight at it. It seemed to be digging, perhaps it's own cache! Ignoring Chaska and her previous catch for a moment, she prowled toward it, not straight toward it, but to the side, where she reasoned it couldn't see her.

Alas, it could very well, and froze. She continued moving however, yet suddenly it was off. She made a wild leap toward it, missing by quite a few inches, and the squirrel rushed to wherever its burrow might be- and headed in the general vicinity of Chaska. Not willing to give up on perhaps another catch, and thinking of just how great it would be were she to bring her brother not just one piece of prey but two, she continued her chase, after the squirrel and back toward Chaska.

Chaska stopped talking as he watched the pup's attention move to something else. He followed her gaze to her prey. A squirrel. He smiled a bit, not making any moves that would alert it to their presence. Instead he only watched as the young wolf prowled.

And then, the squirrel ran. And Keoni went after it, trying her best to chase. Chaska looked on in amusement at the chase, until he realised that the prey was coming his way. Not wanting to see the pup upset, he lowered his head and let out a low growl, trying to direct the squirrel back towards the little hunter.

A pup at its heels and the sudden growl of a wolf before it had the squirrel rush sideways, bolting through the barren vegetation while the girl landed a while off on the tail end of a desperate lunge. Squirrels were simply too far beyond the girls skill set, and though an adult wolf could easily make it a meal, the petite girl hardly could.

with a huff and a glare to the squirrel that shot up a nearby tree, tail whipping angrily as it watched from a branch high from the ground, she turned back to Chaska, obviously disappointed. Oh well. A squirrel would be plenty for the two siblings, she decided. To hide the sting of disappointment, she scooped up her mouse wordlessly. She simply wanted to delight in her single catch, still amazing regardless of the sting of her failure, and looked to Chaska imploringly, wanting to go back to the den and show off her catch.

Chaska watched the squirrel after he growled at it. And kept his eyes on it until it was at the tree. His gaze fell to Keoni after, seeing her disappointed look. "I'm sure you'll get it next time."

She took the mouse and looked upon him imploringly. "How about we go back and show your brother your catch?" he asked, assuming that's what she wanted to do now.

At his words, she let out a disappointed huff, yet said nothing. who knew when next time would be, and the girl was hardly patient. yet she did not complain, instead agreeing readily when Chaska suggested they return to the den. she would follow him eagerly, and when they did find Nikai present her brother with her catch wyh no shortage of pride.
