All Welcome
Wardruna slows to a stop, trepidation gripping him as he struggle to judge with the accuracy he was once accustomed to between his body and the drop off the ridge. In reality, there is plenty of distance between himself and the treacherous edge as he stands at the thinning of the forest that dominates the ridge. Still, he takes no chances. He can observe from his place of safety: shoulder resting heavily against the nearest tree trunk. Jack-o-lantern gaze of his functioning eye takes in the yawning expanse of the taiga before him. Wardruna desires to stride forward with the confidence that he normally exudes and stretch out like the mighty sphinx at the ridge’s cliff-side to study the stretch of taiga below up close and personal like a king surveying his kingdom. Without one of his women at his side to ‘guide’ him — though whether they have yet figured out he is blind in his right eye or not he does not know — to know where he crosses the line between safe and danger he trusts his instincts of survival and does not risk it. Instead, he is left to settle for a second rate view with a low huff of discontent falling from his lips.

Sneaking in here.... :p

Perhaps it is her loneliness that first draws her toward the scent, yet at the same time it chilled her to the bone - for it was another of the same species, she was certain, and other wolves were dangerous. Scary. Perhaps her pup-like thinking was ridiculous on the outside, but her lithe body was trembling already (a combination from both the winter and the idea of a stranger). No, she must be brave - Banrion had made her promise, and she did not intend to break this vow. So maybe it is this thought that drives her on, forward, despite the fear placed stiffly in her heart.

There - by the sharp edge of the cliff, a figure made of dark hues. Her eyes widened slightly with anxiety as she stood a good 15 metres behind him, taking a tentative step backwards once more. No closer she would move - her heart pounded, each violent pump sending shivers of terror down her spine. Submit, her mind screamed to her, though the other side scolded her of how stupid such thoughts were. Conflicted she was now, did she run or did she approach?

This had been a bad idea, a foolish one. If she could barely hold her ground when a stranger made movements toward her first, how could she expect to greet one herself? August froze in place, unable even to shake the dusting of snow that had gathered previously on her back. Run, leave...

you get my 100th post! :D

The other wolf was downwind of him and would his hearing not be as acute as it is to make up for his partial blindness he might not have even realized they were within his vicinity. The crunch of snow under their weight as they takes a step back draws his right ear to the side of his head, his tracking skills coming into play as he attempts to judge the distance between them by sound. They have left plenty of room between them but the other moves no more unless — Wardruna deduces amusedly — they have learned to move with stealth. Haunting, jack-o-lantern gaze moves from his second-rate view as he peers over a broad shoulder, catching sight of the blonde wolf in the distance, Wardruna’s black, leathery nostrils flaring as he draws in the air attempting to discern the scent. Female, healthy as far as he could smell, lone.

It grows harder and harder for Wardruna to continue along the line of thought that his gods have abandoned him. Surely, surely he must hold their favor.

“Come and join me,” Wardruna invites her, gesturing to the vast stretch of view before him. In truth, he wants her to guide him to a safe place among the ridge that gives him a better view but is not so sure he is so willing to trust a stranger. He knows he should have brought one of his wives with him but he had not wanted to take them from whatever it was they’d been doing when he’d broken off from their small group to venture out as he does from time to time.

Yay, congrats! :)

The blonde maiden's frightened step back, it appeared, had caused more harm than good. For now he knew she was there - the crunch of snow underneath her small paws had not gone unnoticed, and as the male turned his ashen head to peer at her, August felt her whole body tense. She felt the pit in her stomach that told her like a screaming voice to run - to abandon this brainless quest she had set out to complete. But the other half of her was far too anxious to move. Maybe it was foolish of her to not flee now, but she failed to make herself shift from this startled position she had frozen into.

Rather than words of anger, harsh and cold, she recieved an invitation. Slowly, curiously, her sandy ears flicked forward from their place flat against her skull and hesitation shone in her eyes. But no, she did not move yet. August kept her eyes on him, occasionally shifting her gaze to the ground. Silence.

Did she go now, did she approach his side, or did she take the moment within her grasp and flee like the coward she truly was? Her paws shifted and took another step back - and perhaps if the Banrion's words had not passed her mind then she would indeed have fled, petite frame disappearing into the distance. But she had made a promise to Lotte, hadn't she? She said she would try.

Whether her next move was a good idea or not, only time would tell, but she hesitantly slunk forward, each step causing an extra beat of her heart. The nerves, she attempted to swallow them, but the result was simply a quiet whine that slipped from her cream coloured throat. Please do not hurt me.
