"Hey you! Yes, you there," she said to the wolf with only half a right ear. "Come over here and help me catch one of these fishes." The little red wolf was on a small ledge overhanging the lake. Her paws were dipped in the waters, and it looked as if she were attempting to catch one of the silver fishes between them. It was not the most efficient way of hunting. Still, when she waited long enough, the fish would forget that she was there and would once more swim between her claws. One fish in particular was within her grasp, and she breathed in deeply before abruptly clapping her paws together. Nothing, again. This was becoming quite the pattern, she thought. With a sigh of frustration, she rolled onto her back and blinked lazily at the afternoon sun. She then righted herself up and peered to see if the unfamiliar wolf was here yet. "Quickly!" she said. Her hunger could only wait so long, you see. |
