It was a fine day, Ratty had decided when the sun rose over the mountains and cast a glittering light upon the bank of the river. The bugs chirped to life before the river rat did. When Rat emerged from his home and drank in the morning light, he smiled contentedly.
Were it not for the number of things that he had to do that day, Ratty might have thought it a fine day for a journey in the boat. The boat was nothing more than a fine chunk of wood that the rat had smoothed over until he could clamber upon it and float.
Instead, Rat thought it might do him a bit of good to check in on his dear friend Mole. With a few nuts stored away for later, Ratty set out upon the river bank and made his way toward Mole’s house.
