@Akela - for our warden/naturalist thread

As the days progressed it became very clear to the female winter would be upon them soon and though snow would not fall for some time, the herbs she needed were dying or already gone. She had collected all of the plants she could find before they succumbed to the harsh autumn temperature, so now a new task was at hand. Adelina had previous knowledge of the few herbs and berries that grew in the winter, and that could be planted year round. It would be a real treat if she could find some of the plants she was looking for within the pack lands. With such luck she could quickly experiment which soil was best for growing and get to planting her winter garden before the ground became to solid to dig.

Her previous stash within the hollow log was neatly organized now, something she had been putting off for a while. The female quickly stuffed a few skins in the log before trotting off to search for any berries she could grow, though luck was not on her side. She wasn't able to locate any of the seeds she sought, and eventually forced herself to the edges of Blackfeather's borders to search there for any possible plant life.

Quietness had fallen over the woods, and like every other animal , the wolves of Blackfeather woods were preparing themselves for winter. Time was still on their side as it was still mild while the leaves became branded with colorful schemes before falling. It brought a little more light to the woods too. Which was quite the irony . In the dawn of everything, light always seemed to prevail. Walking along the borders, he saw Adelina. He liked the female. She meant business and was more used to life, than the younger packmembers.

He decided to approach her.  "Good day Adelina. " he greeted her with a nod. " Crossing the border to go hunting without me ? I almost feel wounded" he joked.

Sorry this took so long *hides
