Joining
Luna padded softly through the forest searching for the Porcupine Ridge pack. She was hesitant as she wasn't sure what this pack was like, she could only hope they liked her,she didn't want to be alone anymore. She thought she smelled other wolves but she didn't approach them afraid of their response. She sat back on her haunches, howling a long high pitched note into the sky. Hopefully the alpha or alphess would hear and she could speak to them about joining their pack.

In his natal pack, Farstep had had an aversion to the borderlands. Not only was it a typical stage for conflict, but his natal pack wasn't in the business of bringing in other wolves, so the job was dry and often unfulfilling. He would've expected to feel the same in any other pack, but surprisingly, Farstep was spending more time on Taggarik's borders than he ever had on those of his birthplace. Perhaps it was because he felt a high standing among the wolves on the ridge, or perhaps it was because he was no longer a yearling who cared more about himself and his entertainment than the well-being of the entire pack. Perhaps his preferences had changed.

Whatever the case, the tawny male was once more following the well-worn trail of pawprints, at least until he came across a scent that was wholly unfamiliar. This happened often as wolves joined the pack, but this scent led boldly into the trees of their forest and was not accompanied by Capriccio or Taggarik. His brow furrowed, troubled, as he swung into the woods.

It didn't take very long to find the intruder, especially when she drew attention to herself with a howl that did not belong to a pack wolf. As soon as he located her and found no hint of Taggarik or Capriccio's scents, he grew completely rigid. His tail rose aggressively into a stiff line above his hips, his face contorted into an enraged snarl, and he lunged to close the distance between them with aggressively perked ears. His stance screamed, "danger," as she was a trespasser with no respect for their borders nor the law of the wild, and his threatening posture and charge promised that he would rip her hide to shreds if she didn't remove herself from their territory immediately.

Luna dropped down low into her stomach at the male's aggresive approach, backing up. She made sure to keep her eyes down,it was instictual after her years with Alpha Remus. She was quaking in fear but didn't speak. She hadn't spoken willingly in years,it was habit to keep quiet now. 'Good going Luna, you completely passed the border, they'll never let you in now!' The male who had approached her wasn't the alpha but it was obvious he was a high ranking member. He had thick russet fur and now stood over her agressively. He hadn't spoken a word but she knew he wanted her off the land. She backed until she found the border she'd mistakenly crossed and waited to see if he would talk. When he didn't she decided to take the chance of speaking. "I'm sorry,"she whispered.

Luna's stance dropped and she backed away, but that didn't do much to stop Farstep's aggression. He harried her with warning snaps of his jaws and displeased growls until she passed over the unmistakable trampled, yellow-spotted snow where the wolves drew their borders, and then he stood still, firmly within the pack's territory, and stared her down. His stance did not change, but remained aggressively dominant. As with anything anyone said, he didn't understand her apology. Even if he had, he never would've accepted it. Crossing the borders was a mistake that a lone wolf could not afford to make, the ultimate crime as far as their kind was concerned, and no amount of apologizing or submitting would correct it in the eyes of the offended pack.

Having shown evidence that she lacked a working nose and had no common sense or instinct, Farstep shut the door of opportunity on her. He wasn't the Alpha, but he didn't need their permission to send an unsuitable wolf on their way, and he didn't need confirmation of her unsuitability either. He knew well, and so he remained dominantly postured and snarled threateningly, ensuring she would not cross the borders again and would leave quietly.

'Guess someone's never made a mistake before,' she thought to herself but that didn't stop her from backing away as the wolf wanted and she kept facing him making sure he wouldn't attack once her back was turned, he was extremely angry after all. She had never seen a male more livid. It strengthened her fear and proved to her this was no place for her. He reminds me of Alpha Remus she realized and pushed the dark thought away with a horrified shudder. 'Maybe it was a good thing I crossed the border,a sign.' Once she was far enough to safely turn around she did so,and ran as fast as she could, fleeing the pack's territory.

Farstep watched silently as Luna backed away from the borders, his aggression lessening with every step she put between herself and the Porcupine Ridge pack. Her behaviour now was a bit of a mystery to him—he didn't think he'd shown an intention of following or attacking her once she was outside the borders, only an effort to convey that she should be on her way—but perhaps she was a more nervous loner than he had been. Yes, that was probably it. Already he was beginning to forget the strife of being alone, the constant need to be vigilant and the ever-present fear of being injured or going hungry, but Luna couldn't afford to forget those things. She was still on her own, so being fearful and vigilant in this case was probably reasonable even if he thought he showed no intent of harming her without being given another reason to.

In any case, Farstep didn't follow her, and turned to head back toward the territory's core the moment that Luna broke into a run.
