Hunting thread @Mikasi , maybe also useful/fun for @Pietro since they usually together! :3

Kendra sat by the entrance of her family's den. She was at the glen, wanting to learn more about plants and herbs but her father told her to follow a lesson with Mikasi about hunting. She was not that thrilled but she at least tried to be openminded. She hoped she could go to Venus after her hunting. She was was quite absorbed with her plants. Burke wanted to experience other things since the girl had shown interest in nothing else. He wanted to be more exposed to other activities in a pack.

Kendra waited on Mikasi's arrival. Maybe her brother would join them. Kendra hoped so. She liked him to be around her. She hadn't met this Mikasi yet, but she trusted her father. If he trusted her with him then she would try her best. A soft sigh came from her lips. She wondered if her mommy was a hunter or not. Kendra did realize that she would need to know how to hunt at least for when she was older.

Today was the day he would finally meet at least one of the two youngsters. Burke's daughter, Kendra, was expecting him to teach her the skills of hunting. He had to admit, he was a bit nervous for a few reasons. He had never taught younger wolves anything first off. This would be the first time. Secondly, he didn't know if Kendra would like him or not. Though it wasn't essential to training, he still hoped that they could have some sort of friendship.

When he arrived, he could see the youngster waiting outside the Glen. "Heya, you must be Kendra?", he said when he neared her, "I'm Mikasi. You ready to go hunt?"

Kendra looked up once a male approached. Her pale eyes fell on his for a moment before she nodded quietly. "Yes, I am," she returned to him with a bit of pride in her tone. She pushed herself to her feet. She nodded towards Mikasi, yet she turned to the den. "Pietro! We're going hunting if you want you can come with us!," she called out to him. She didn't want him to feel left behind. The girl let him decide if he would join or not.

She eventually stepped towards Mikasi. Her tail still had the red dyed part of her tip. She really liked it, like she belonged to her daddy and with his red paw print mark. Yet hers was different and prettier, at least in her mind. The dark girl walked with Mikasi. "What we hunting?," she asked. "And where? Why would we hunt that?"

Pietro was startled at the sound of voices. He heard a mans voice, with his sisters mixed in too. He quickly ran over to see a brown wolf, a color he hadn't seen very well yet. He had caught a glimpse of Venus going off with his sister, but he never saw a fully brown wolf. Pietro walked closer, his chest puffed out, his ears standing to a point. He tried hard to look strong and proud. "Kendra. " he said and nodded his head slightly to his sister. He looked back over to the male. "My name is Pietro. Yours?" he said. Looking up and down the new wolf.

He looked out into the den as Kendra called for her brother. He wasn't expecting to be teaching two, though he wouldn't complain. The more the merrier and besides he wanted to do this. It was an exciting thought: finally being able to teach younger wolves.

Mikasi turned is head downwards and listened to her questions. "Well, we're gonna go near Redgrove, that's where I usually hunt," he started. "We're gonna start with something small, big stuff comes later. As for specific animal, we'll have to see."

Indigo eyes peered over to the grey wolf. He had a very proud stance, chest out and ears high, and he could honor that. Confidence was a good thin to an extant. "The name's Mikasi," he answered, "Nice to meet you Pietro."

He turned around and started walking onward, motioning for the two to follow.

Kendra's tail instantly started wagging when Pietro came out of the den. The girl licked under his chin in greeting and playfully jumped on him. Her paws hanging over Pietro's bigger frame. Kendra was definitely not a run, but it seemed her brother had the giantism of their father and she had not. They were both very healthy having more than enough food to get by. Kendra climbed over Pietro, which was a difficult task him being bigger. Her eyes widened. "We can not! Father does not want us to go there!," Kendra protested instantly. Though, she was a bit of a hypocrite since she had been close to it herself to get rose buds for the red dye.

Kendra sat down by her brother, both quite stubborn as Nemesis and Venus probably had experienced already. Her red tipped tail patted on the ground. She settled against her brother, after all she was very close to him. She wasn't sure about this hunting, she rather wished to go and tend to the keep. Not that she as a pup could do much 'tending' but Kendra thought she was. She was still trying to get her red paw prints off the floor.

Pietro stood proudly, until his sister greeted him. His face drew up a happy smile, and he licked over her face a few times. He went back to his previous pose, it was pretty cute to see him try to act tough around his sister and the new man. He glanced over Mikasi's frame, which was short lived when the male turned tail and started moving. He trotted proudly, his chest still puffed out. He glanced at his sister every once and a while, but focused ahead. He noticed the red of her coat, but didn't ask. It wasn't blood, and if she did it with a plant or something other than fighting, his sister would babble on about it, so he kept his mouth shut. "Have you ever taken down an elk like my daddy has?" he asked politely, until he quickly changed. "I've taken down an elk." he lied, giving his sister a wink. He went back to standing proudly as he tromped the ground. He didn't mind going back to Redgrove, unlike his sister. He already had the experience with his sister and Nem. They saw a strange black skeleton with parts of black hide on them, and he would go see it again if possible. He couldn't quite grasp what it was, and he knew nothing about the fact that he was looking at his passed mother. He and Kendra would have to ask about it soon. Nem shooed them away quickly, he couldn't get close, he could only smell a foreign stench, which he couldn't identify. As the larger adult male kept his pace, Pietro got distracted by the darkness and the silence the woods gave. Besides the other wolves, there was no noise. He gazed around in amazement, his beautiful eyes looking around. The snow made things prettier, but that was ignored as he snapped back into reality.

Right when he announced where they would be hunting, Kendra had objected. He turned his head to look at her. "I meant around the place. We're not going to disrespect your father's orders by hunting inside the grove," he replied. "But if you don't feel comfortable training there, then we can always go farther." He wanted hem to feel comfortable with their surroundings.

He moved forward then, making his way to the spot. He grinned at Pietro's comment. "You gotta lot of talk, we'll see if you can back that up," he replied jokingly. The woods fell silent then, leaving only smells. As they hiked onwards, the smell of rabbit came through. It was faint but strong. Mikasi stopped then, motioning for the others to do so. "Do you smell something?" he asked in a hushed voice.

Kendra was more at ease when he said that they would hunt around the red grove and wouldn't trespass there. Kendra wouldn't want her father angry. The girl smiled at Pietro's statement, she knew for a fact that it wasn't true but she was instantly backing up his claim by nodding seriously. After all she would stand by her brother and support him. She followed Mikasi along with her brother. She trotted, not making much noise in general.

Kendra stopped when Mikasi did. She looked a bit confused as to why they stopped but he pointed out of smelling something. She brought her nose closer, but she didn't know the scent of rabbits yet. She could only smell the fresh soil under it seeing that was what she knew. She tried to remember what rabbits smelled like but she looked a bit clueless. Maybe hunting wasn't going to be her thing after all. She looked at Pietro to see if he got the scent Mikasi was talking about.

Omg that was so adorable when Kendra back him up! I'm dying right now.

Pietro stood proudly. "Yeah I could back it up." He said in a big tough man voice. He looked to see his sister nodding. He wanted to run up and hug her and scream: Thank you for helping me lie! As they moved along, Pietro did smell something that wasn't a wolf, but he didn't know it was a rabbit. When the male pointed it out, he nodded. "Yeah, is that rabbit?" he whispered. He quickly remembered how tough he had to be. "I've never hunted something as small as a rabbit, so I wouldn't know. I only go for the big ones." he said quietly, looking at his sister for more back up.

Kendra didn't have a immediate response unlike her brother. That was ok, at least for the first time. He nodded to Pietro showing he was correct.

There was small, subtle winds blowing over their coats, which was to their advantage. "We're downwind from it now, meaning it can't smell us as easily as we can," he whispered so only the two could hear, "Always stay downwind if given a chance." It always made a hunt easier than I could be.

"Let's move, lower and quietly. Don't drag yourself along either." With that, he moved forward, closer and closer to their target.

Kendra looked at her brother as he smelled something. She tried again and got a whiff of it now. Was that rabbit? Okay interesting. She smelled that quite a lot of times when looking for plants, before she had just ignored it. So basically she had been close to tracking rabbits already. Hmm. "Okay, staying on the downwind," she repeated, wanting to remember that for later, after all this was essential information. Kendra followed Mikasi, staying low but she hadn't really registered the target yet.

Kendra quickly grew bored though and then tackled Pietro excitedly. At least that was more fun that this. She didn't see the importance of the hunt yet and she was currently not very into hunting at all. She was more interested to play with her brother rather than to focus on hunting.

Mikasi turned to give a warning growl at Kendra. With the noise the prey would be spooked. It would be very unfortunate to loose this rabbit now.

The more they walked forward, the more stronger the smell became until they were close enough to see the target from a distance. Now was the perfect time. "Go kill it," he hissed quietly, throwing them right into the action. He would examine what they would do and if they did something wrong, he would correct them later.

Kendra was pretty distracted as she was not being entertained much. The girl did look up when Mikasi stepped closer to this prey. Kendra followed his steps not really staying low. She saw the rabbits briefly but the moment she started running the all dashed off. There was no sneaking or hiding. Kendra didn't really know what she had to so and she found this a rather stupid activity. She would help the pack in another way, not this way where she had to run after food.

She turned and looked at Mikasi. "This is stupid," she frowned and sat down, probably going to be lectured now. Pups mostly learned from watching, yet Kendra was unfortunate that she had no ambition for the hunt. With that said Kendra left the male. She didn't want to do this hunting. She had better things to do. She couldn't care less if her father was going to be mad at her. She wanted to do something else.
