Long before the first light of February 3rd did Reek rouse his mate from her still slumber. Together, they left their humble alpha den behind and ambled slowly west to fulfill Reek's busy itinerary. Above all, Reek felt they needed a vacation; some time alone as tourists to breath new life into their relationship. He told her to close her eyes as she walked and to allow him to be her guide, but Reek knew she would steal glances along the way. It wasn't the surpise that mattered, but the thought behind the surprise, laced in heavy sentimentality, instead.

They crossed the barren morraine and the Dawnlark Plains, and as soon as the rise of their old home came into view, Reek told his mate to open her eyes. Illuminated by the eastern rising sun, Redtail Rise was draped in beautiful orange, yellow, and bright white light.  Still, there was something missing in the ever after glow. The land was still marked with scars left by the storm that drove their pack away, but spring would bring new life to the Rise, and perhaps, they could someday return to the mountain top.

Passing over the now nonexistant spetre that once was their border, Reek led Saena to their lovers leap; the waterfall they had called home for happiest month of Reek's life.  The water now ran still, frozen in time by frost.  Together, they loitered the whole day away, reminicing and recounting days of old, and enjoying their old home for as long as it would support them.

Eventually, they grew tired and withdrew to the waterside cave. Reek had missed the space to spread within, much unlike his meager den in the maplewood. Here, he lived like a king. While the day faded away into night, they slept together in a solid pile. It was the most fulfilling rest Reek had had in months.

He was the first to rouse in the morning. He shuffled and breathed in deeply.  His senses were then ensnared by a powerful and alluring scent.  Saena had gone into season. Reek rose to his feet, propelled by a powerful biological imperative, and tried nosing his sleeping mate awake. There would be few words if any, but he would have her.

Reek's suggestion that they take some time away from their pack invigorated Saena. Of late, the leading female had become a right bitch, hiding away from the many new faces of the pack and lashing out at inopportune times. Though she was loathe to leave the pack in Ukko's paws, for the man had shown no inclination to step into the role Reek had given him and was proving to be a recluse to boot, she needed the time away and gladly agreed.

She had protested walking with her eyes closed, but eventually acquiesced, if only due to Reek's excitement. Fearing that he would spring another in a series of reckless and sometimes stupid decisions on her, she followed him anxiously, only to gasp when he finally told her to open her eyes.

Redtail Rise was glorious, entombed in glistering ice and resplendent in spite of its sorry state. She missed it dearly, but the maplewood was also home, and so it was with fondness and no sorrow that she spent the day gallivanting about it with Reek as much as her sore rib would allow. The waterfall cavern they had spent their first month together in was a palace of ice, and returning to it to sleep felt very much like coming home.

For all the sentiment and all the nostalgia, however, Saena couldn't shake a growing feeling of anxiety. Sometime in the middle of the night she awoke and pushed away from Reek, whose body was suddenly too hot for the feverish warmth she was experiencing. She tried to brush it away but the rest of her sleep was fitful, restless, and she squirmed uncomfortably as the fever burn localized to her stomach.

It wasn't until Reek nosed her awake, somehow frantic, that she really felt it: a burning need. Not entirely understanding what had and was happening to her, Saena blinked sleep from her eyes, stood on trembling legs, and felt herself consumed in a heady fire the moment she met Reek's eye. It was the kind of fire that was undeniable, an unstoppable inferno of hormones raging in the pit of her belly. She couldn't have ignored nature's calling if she tried.

Like a fly trapped in a spider's web, so was Reek ensared by Saena's captivating scent. Nearly all control faded away in the moment as he gave into his most animalistic desires and cravings. Her season had unlocked a feral part of Reek that lay dormant buried deep inside, but now, it bubbled up to the forefront— it's call, too strong to ignore. He would have her now; as soon as she rose to her feet.

Perched upon tired and wobbly legs, Reek barely allowed his mate the time to fully awaken before he was atop her. It was a frantic scramble as he wrapped her with his forelimbs and pulled her close. It was a scramble marked with the heavy-handed calling card of wanting and need. Grasping at the scruff of her neck, Reek allowed his teeth to rake against her fur before he finally squared his hips against her, thus finding his mark with little trouble. All the while, a possessive growl passed his lips.

Consumed completley by want, Reek did not take her gently.

On an ordinary day, Saena would've scored his face for rousing her and climbing atop her like she was some kind of object to suit his needs. On an ordinary day she would have left Reek there, wanting, while she stormed off in an irate rage. But it wasn't an ordinary day and her body responded independently from her mind, which was still what the fucking at his abruptness. She barely had time to blink awake before Reek had his arms around her waist, and she barely had time to register what was happening before he had taken her.

Of course, realization dawned soon after for the sensation was heightened significantly from any time before. His urgency reminded her of Luke and for a guilty moment she imagined it was the blue-nosed Creeker atop her, but the thought was soon purged from her mind as she realized, this was what it was like to be an adult, and that this day or week or month or however long it lasted, the sex would not be unproductive. She couldn't contain herself for more than a few seconds; Reek pushed her over the edge so quickly she barely had time to catch her breath before the need was building up again under his rough handling.

Reek's breathing became heavy and labored, however, he showed no other signs of tiring and continued unabashedly in his fevered and nearly violent rhythm. His grip tightened around the scruff of her neck as she responded to his movements, but even in his frenzied state, he was careful not to draw blood or inflict unnecessary pain, but that was the extent of his restraint. He simply willed her to remain firmly in place until the deed was done. While he had been a doting healer to his mate days prior, her injuries were no longer in the forefront of Reek's mind. He took her selfishly, compelled to sate his own desires.

He lost himself completely within her and all control faded away. Feeling a tightness spread through the lower half of his body, Reek's rhythm became far more sporadic and a groan of sweet release passed his lips. Their copulation was short in comparison to many of their previous sessions, but her heat had just begun, and this was only the first tryst out of the many that would pepper this passionate week.

Withdrawing from his mate's back, Reek slumped to the cold cave floor and muttered the only word he could muster; a pleased, "Goddamn."

She was rocked with sensations previously locked behind her sexual immaturity, so Reek's rough treatment, the seizing of her scruff and the tug against her neck, were really just after thoughts. She would surely feel it later, but now she was lost to a frenzy that refused to abate even when he slid from her back. She had no tail to wave and so the enticing scent of estrus remained clinging to her and not wafting, but it was perhaps for the best, and it seemed Reek was able to smell it no problem.

Panting lightly, the alpha female seated herself and took a moment to bend and clean herself before catching her breath. Awash in a sea of hormones, there wasn't much exhaustion and her bright eyes sought Reek, only now understanding the significance—the chance they now, at long last, had. To begin a family, to solidify their family's claim on the maplewood and to solidify their relationship. For the moment, she allowed the romantic motion to sweep her away, and then she was on her feet again, smirking impishly.

In the aftermath of their coupling, Reek struggled for breath. The rise and fall of his chest was heavy and labored as he tried to regain the air he had lost though activity. Saena did not share in his exhaustion, it seemed she was swept away on invisible waves of her own pleasure— Reek, in turn, was also consumed by the moment they had shared. However, he was out of practice, out of shape, and winded. This had been his first taste of intimacy since Saena's dissapearnce, and what a taste it had been.

Despite needing time to recover, Reek wanted more. He met his mate's gaze with one of earnest yearning. Her nonexistant tail may not have been able to waft her alluring scent through the cave, but the smell of estrus clung strong to her body. Once more, Reek was driven forward, propelled by an intense need. Rounding her side, he placed a string of fervent nips on the underbelly of her neck, allowing his teeth to drag through fur and lightly scrape against skin.

They'd waited months for this. Not actively, though they both knew it would come in time, but driven by the natural changes fall brought. Aggression spiked in autumn, and hierarchy became more rigid, and everyone was on edge. It all led up to this, and though Reek and Saena were not necessarily aware of it all the time, their charged energy had been in anticipation for this. From here on out there could only be an unwinding of tension as wolves settled and the alpha female satisfied herself with the fact that no others would breed this year in the maplewood, at least not until late in the year, when their cubs were grown past their most dangerous days.

Reek closed the distance between himself and Saena and raked his teeth through the fur at her throat. She growled lowly, a sound born not of aggression but rather out of determination, of want. She trusted him not to rip out her throat, after all. She took a few steps, turning herself slightly to bump a hip against him, and stamped one paw on the floor of the cavern like some sort of bull. She wasn't even sure why; her body drove itself in that moment.

Had it been any other day and this, a normal round of lovemaking, Reek would have desired a chance to breathe— or to have some sort of respite from their impassioned first round. But, he was drunk with her scent; intoxicated by her movements. He needed more... and so did she.

Though he did not know that Saena thought of the future, Reek was locked purely in the moment. He had wanted a family of his own for the longest time, but when it came time to do the act, it was the furthest thing from his mind. Little occupied his headspace; most of it just went fuzzy. In it's emptyness was only Saena. Instinct guided him, and without warning, he was atop his mate once more, locking hip with hip.

Perhaps, if he had been of clearer mind, Reek would have thought to tease her; to make her beg. But for now, there was only want, and his desires could only be satisfied on one way. Like a caged beast, he took her even more roughly the second time.

I'mma fade out here! Feel free to post again but I think this is my last.

Reek wasted no time in connecting them again, but this time he was unbridled. Momentarily Saena relished it, but it didn't take long for the friction to become uncomfortable and, having not fully recovered from round one, soon it began to downright hurt. She bore it until Reek hit his point of no return, where he drove in so hard that she yelped and snarled.

As soon as they parted she turned with a snap of her jaws and hissed, "what the hell, Reek, that hurt." She couldn't see it, but she could smell a hint of blood, could feel the micro tears he had made in her sensitive flesh with his thoughtless roughhousing. She retreated into the dark of the cavern, brooding, and slumped to the floor with a glower to hide herself from view. For the rest of that day and partway into the second, in spite of her heat and natural lust, Saena prevented her mate from mounting her again in an effort to allow the torn and stretched flesh to heal.

I'll go ahead and ship this to the archives!

Reek had been too easily enveloped in Saena's spell to stop himself. His wanting had made him burn with greedy desire— selfish instinct. When he had finally finished and the two became untangled, her angry snarl brought Reek back to reality. A flash of guilt seized in his gut.

He had hurt her. It was not his intention to do so, nor would it ever be. He hadn't thought, and simply became too carried away with the moment. He pushed too far for too long. Now knowing his failure, Reek hung his head in shame and murmered an apologetic, "I— I'm sorry... I didn't mean to—"

She settled a good distance away, and Reek tried to draw near but was quickly prevented from taking her side. With guilt hanging heavy in Reek's heart, he settled against the cave's wall in silence.
