@Burke Just some team hunting I thought would be fun

The girl chased the injured fox, snapping at its hind legs, until it was clear out of the territory. She smiled and licked the blood from her muzzle. The stupid creature had tried to hunt her prey. The Brotherhood's prey. There was no way she would let that happen. She was trotting back to her stock of voles and hares when she heard a rustle. She opened her maw, trying to get the best sense of what she had heard was by smelling the creature. Doe. She popped her head up, and sure enough, about 200 meters away, was a small doe. She was limping and was alone, perfect prey. That was, for a team of two. She let out a soft growl and searched for any scent of nearby packmates, but didn't come across any.

Whisper had always had the determination of a bear after an elk carcass, and now was no different. She would search the entire forest, if she had to, to find a hunting partner. Nowolf was gonna take this ember of luck from her paws. No, that would happen only over her cold, dead body. She would kill this deer, and she would kill it for the pack.

Burke was sitting by one of the streams coming from the swamps. The male knew when the take his breaks. As a workaholic he was not the one to take breaks, yet he learned that if he did not take a rest once a while his body would not be able to keep up with his mind. He was not the youngest even though he would never admit that verbally. He closed his eyes, sitting at the bank. He always liked to find his inner peace, stay calm and channel that calmness. The news Cicero had brought him did not do well to his inner peace. His want to kill and start a reckless war was itching under his skin.

The male inhaled and slowly exhaled. He thought about his children and how a war would affect them. He realized never was a good time to have a war. Yet he had to think logically, when Malice was somewhat of a thread he went out of his way to avoid such a war, now his enemy had basically started a pack in their neighborhood and Burke was more than tempted to start one. He needed to calm down. Think of other options.

Whisper's fur was ruffled with annoyance. She took one last sniff and realized something she had not smelled before. Her alpha. She trotted towards his scent and found herself at the bank. Just as she began to approach him, she stopped. He seemed to be resting, for his eyes were closed and his breathes were rhythmic. She stopped there and watched him, studied him. Yes, he was a brute, but he seemed to have an inner peace. She smiled, and waited for him to realize she was there, only then would she speak.

It was always quite amusing to Burke how new members slowly discovered how he truly was, some got the pleasure and other's did not. He heard the female from miles away, she had not exactly been quiet as she came running and panting. She was clearly on a mission and Burke briefly wondered what she had been looking for or what needed such intensity. Burke opened his eyes as soon as she was there, the female at least kept her distance. Burke turned towards her with a questioning look. What is it that she wanted from him? One dot on his brow rose a bit in question, silently giving her permission to speak.

She happily accepted the permission to speak "There's a fat doe with a broken leg a few miles back, I can't hunt her alone, so I was wondering if you would want to hunt with me?" She looked on with worry that she was asking to much of her alpha, so she bowed her head to show respect. She was grateful that her alpha was not upset that she had interrupted him, and prayed to the stars he would help. A plump doe would be nice to have around.

Burke was kind of pleased to see that this female was helping out and hunting. But he was not so smitten with he fact that he was interrupted. Still the meat would be good for his pack and feed a lot of mouths. The alpha pushed himself to his feet. She was smart too not to underestimate a deer. "Well alright," he spoke and then also howled for @Mikasi and @Quiet seeing that he wanted to be a hunter too.

"I will have a look at this deer then, I also called a fellow members of this pack that also like to hunt. It would be good for both of your trades," he explained to her. Burke looked at her, wanting her to show him the way to this deer with a broken leg. It did not happen often so they might as well make use of it.

She smiled and nodded in appreciation, then began to sprint across the territory on her long legs. It took a minute, but they soon arrived only 200 feet from the deer. She was shivering with excitement, for even if the deer fled, she would have a hard time escaping more than one wolf, especially Whisper. She stuck her muzzle out towards the female as they neared it, as it was nearly invisible in the thorny bracken. She licked her jowls, already able to taste the blood filling her mouth. She craved the taste of fresh kill, and the satisfying thump of a deer falling. Yes, this would be fun.

Quiet's head poked up as Burke's howl called for her. Instantly, the hybrid was on her feet, and she ran towards her alpha's call. The hybrid arrived swiftly, and took one look at the long-legged female. Quietly understanding, Quiet followed the woman, sensing the atmosphere of the hunt in the woman's eyes. She ran fast, her long legs tearing up the ground in a way that Quiet's short coyote legs could never imitate. But she followed nonetheless, seeing the doe that they were targeting. Quiet looked towards the female, chuffing softly to attract her attention, asking what they wanted to do in order to take the deer down.

Right when the sound of Burke's howl went off, Mikasi went straight for it. He was swift on his feet, as always. With less bulk on his body and long legs, he made a great runner, therefor making a decent hunter.

The smell of deer got to his nose before the wolves, making is movements more stealthy. Upon arrival, he gave a quick nod to the three wolves, then focused his attention upon the fragile deer, waiting patiently for the sign to attack.

Burke was pleased to see that the members he howled for instantly were present. He looked at Whisper in a way that he silently told her that she could have done this too. Still, she was new so for this time he was not going to be too grumpy about her interrupting him. The large male walked with his pack, seeing the deer with a broken leg.

The alpha had his own plans of approaching this deer, but seeing that this new girl wanted to be hunter he would let her decide the approach. He gave her a silent nod that he would allow her to tell him what to do. Most of the time he made the kill. His heavy body would snap a fragile neck like that instantly, after all he was not the fastest runner.

The pretty woman smiled at Burke's nod of approval. "Alright, Mikasi, you get in front of the deer and back it up, bring it to me. Coywolf, While Mikasi is backing it up, go for the broken leg, it'll bend its neck to find you and Burke can come from the other side to grab at its exposed jugular. I'll Then go round' with Mik and we'll attack its chest area. Kay?" She whispered to the others almost inaudibly, and looked around for their recognition of the plan. This was her time to work on her trade, and it would be good.

Quiet saw the nod of approval that went between Burke and the unfamiliar woman and came to the conclusion that this was all Burke's idea of testing this new recruit. Satisfied with that information, the coywolfdog listened for the woman's orders. She was to grab the deer's leg while Mikasi was attacking, distracting it and allowing Burke and the others to go in for the kill. The job was enough for Quiet — she hated being in the fray anyway, especially with her small frame. The hybrid nodded, looking inbetween the woman and Burke, waiting for the signal to go ahead.

He nodded, accepting his roll. Mikasi examined his target before slithering away to get to its front. The job assigned to him was good enough and he would carry it out the best he could.

As he neared the beast, he popped out in front of it, snarling and snapping his teeth towards it. It was a flight or fight situation for the doe and with its broken leg, the only option was fight. It tried its best rearing its hooves at him, however its crippled body wouldn't put much power behind it.

Burke soon realized that instead of the deer fleeing form Mikasi it reared up and it was ready to fight. It was good of Whisper to never underestimate a deer with a broken leg. Burke as a protective alpha he was, instantly took the lead and charged forward only a second later not wanting his pack mate to be hurt. Burke might be a bit of a grump but honestly he was not the worst to be around. He was a bit of a selfless jerk. Anything for his pack.

The tank of a male rushed forward and jumped up. It was like a bison charging at another bison in the mating season. The heavy set alpha slammed with his shoulder into the deer, using that to unbalance it and not have it kick his legs at Mikasi. Burke landed on top of the struggling animal. Its legs kicking. "Someone grab it's damn neck before it gets to its feet!,"he bared. Even though the deer fighting back might not have been that vicious it was clear Burke was not going to let anything happen.

*Pat's Mikasi* U safe now.

Whisper left her position to take up Burke's part, and launched herself at its neck. She dashed forwards and made the leap, her teeth finding a purchase on the things neck. Although she was not heavyweight, her sharp fangs dug into its neck and found the perfect point to lock her jaws into. She clawed at the beast's neck and it wailed, sinking down. She didn't let go as it fell to the ground, kicking its legs out. "Legs!" She snarled around the mouthful of neck, warning her fellow members.  The doe's movements slowly decreased, though it's hooves still flicked out up and down.

Quiet moved in a burst of speed, mirroring Mikasi as he distracted the deer. The hybrid lunged for it's back leg, sinking her fangs briefly into it's broken leg as it reared, sending it to its knees as it's feet buckled. She jumped back, seeing it's legs kick out as Burke landed on top of it and the white wolf's fangs dig into it's neck. Quiet snarled, weighing her options. The deer's legs were dangerous, but it was obvious that it's movements were slowing thanks to the other female's fangs deep in its jugular. Quiet decided to hang back for now, her eyes trained on the dying creature, ready to leap forward if the need arose.

Luckily for him, Burke came charging at the deer, knocking it over. When the alpha ordered to get the neck, Mikasi did not hesitate. He went towards it and sunk his fangs into the sweet spot along with Whisper. The longer they held their grip, the more the animal's life started to drain.

There was a lot of confusion about what needed to be done, but as soon as Mikasi and Whisper held down the deer the male stepped off the creature and shook out his fur. The male looked at the other's kill the deer before him. Once it was actually dead Burke dominantly stepped over it. Seeing that he would eat first as the alpha. He was not that hungry but he did want to make the claim to just freshen up everyone's memory. It would be good for them to have a rewarding bit after he was done, then the rest of the pack could dig in if they wanted.

Whisper shook the doe's throat once more before stepping back with a grin. Yes, this was a good kill. She stepped away once Burke claimed it, and respected him with a head dip. She was proud, yes, but knew her place. As an alpha, he had the right to the first bites. And although whisper felt that the leader of the hunt should have a chance to eat well too, she was a lower rank and would have to wait. It was the wolf code, after all. It had been this way since primal stages, and wasn't about to change.

Quiet watched as the larger wolves took the deer down, staying back as it crumpled. It wasn't her place to be in the thick of hunting; she wasn't much of a proper hunter anyway. She was a tracker by nature, letting the larger, stronger, swifter wolves do the actual work. She was content, no, used to, hanging in the back of the crowd, waiting for her turn to have a bite. She watched as Burke stepped forth to claim his rights as alpha to first bite, and sat contently a few lengths away, letting the others eat first.

He released the now dead prey's neck as all life drained from it. It felt very accomplishing to take something down with his packmates.

Mikasi took some steps back as Burke made a claim onto the deer. The male sat on the ground, watching the alpha eat. Looking at the sight now made him aware of his hunger. Still, he wouldn't risk sneaking in a bite until Burke was done.

Mikasi, Quiet, this could be a quick rank challenge between you two!! Dominance over the food/Who eats first! :D

Burke took another bite and until he had a decent amount he stepped back, letting Mikasi and Quiet eat. Burke did not really communicated this but he had the feeling the two middle tier wolves wouldn't let a lower tier wolf eat first, he would have to see. He sat down a bit away from the carcass, but watching how his members were interacting. Maybe Quiet was happy with the rank she had, maybe she wanted to challenge him, now would be the perfect moment with the alpha watching.

Whsiper's jaws pooled with saliva as she watched the others eat. She wanted terribly to dive in and display her own dominance, but she was new so it would be quite disrespectful. Her ears flicked with annoyance, but she kept, for the most part, perfectly still. She yawned as she waited, being worn out from the hunt. She wasn't a large wolf, after all.

Seeing Burke step back, Quiet took her opportunity to step forward and claim her piece. She wasn't interested in challenging Mikasi, more interested on filling her stomach than anything. She looked over what Burke left, then chose a haunch to tear into. She pulled at the limb, all the while stealing glances at Mikasi, wondering if the purple-eyed wolf would challenge her. She doubted that the white hunter would, but she hurried to grab her claim before either of them decided to.

Once Burke had finished, Quiet had made her way towards the kill. He growled, standing up to rush after. The last thing he wanted was to wait for either of the two.

With a sharp growl, he grabbed the same piece the hybrid had. His teeth were bared, hackles raised, and tail high as he did so.
