Joining
After leaving Porcupine Ridge, and discovering his beloved cousin, the last family known to be faithful towards him had left as well, he decided to find another pack to join. He'd dwelled on it for a day or so, but now was not the time. He wished only to push forward, and he'd desperately been attempting to do for months. After traveling a couple of days north east he hit yet another border, this of an unknown pack. The smell hadn't been as strong as the ridge's, but the smell was easily found. He sighed, hopefully this one would work out, unlike the others. Lowering to his haunches, Novak lifted his muzzle to the sky and howled for this lands leader.

Boop boop bo- Oh new thread! HHope you don't mind me jumpin' in!

Skeet had already seen a blood bath for an intruder running into the land, so he had to make sure he was going to do his job. With his trot fast, he made his way over to the howl that echoed through the grotto. His body language showed one of having dominance, his stature was held high with his large body.

He wondered who would it be, perhaps someone he knew? No, it wouldn't be, her barely knew himself at times. He wondered if it was Marsh, but his brother was far off, and the howl didn't sound similar. What came into sight was a male that was sitting down, his fur a pale color.

Skeet took his chance to continue his quick pace towards the border to greet the wolf. He reached it quickly, his scent full of LSG. His pale eyes looked towards the other man.

"Hey" he called out, walking a bit closer. "What'd ya call for?" He asked, probably knowing the answer already.

A howl on the border interrupted yet another one of Reek's patrols. He stopped his marking midstream, and shook his leg before turning tail to head in the direction of the source. Quickly crossing the rocky terrain that made up borderlands of the grotto -- a testament to becoming used to the terrain as opposed to the rolling maples of the forest he had left behind -- Reek made his approach in haste.

Part of Reek was proud to see that Skeet had arrived before him to intercept the stranger. After having one particularly bloody incident on the border, Reek wasn't intent on having a repeat. Without speaking, Reek approached with tail held high. His body language was clear; he was the one in charge.

Ah! Sorry for the wait >< Also: OooO Cas and Dean!

Novak was surprised how quickly a wolf arrived to his call, instantly he lowered himself to a respectful position. Even with that he stood rather intimidating—both a blessing and a curse, but so did the other man who had made himself known. He wasn't aware the rank, but either way if he wanted to get in he knew it wouldn't involve a overpowering aroma. Before he had the chance to respond to the strangers inquiry, another male showed up, darker than the first. He made it rather obvious he was the one who was the leader of whatever lands border he stood agaisnt. The pale wolf lowered himself to a more submissive stance, before continuing. "I'm seeking a pack to join," it was simple enough, he had grown tired of being alone. At first, he believed Porcupine Ridge to be his new start, but once his cousin left he found it no longer appealing. Little did he know, Jhala, one of the wolves that had accepted him now calls this pack home.

The pale man didn't reply quick enough, though his stature was lowered a bit. Skeet was happy that this man at least understood how getting into a pack worked, showing submission. He was about to ask once more since he was impatient, but the sound of another pack mate led his eyes elsewhere.

The dark alpha himself had come, his stature showing one of a leader. Skeet was quick to check himself and lower his own posture. He looked over to the pale man once more, his lips parted with an answer. He was a loner in search of a home, and he had come to LSG to hopefully fulfill that search.

Skeet for once stayed quiet, looking towards Reek before answering. "What could you offer to LSG?" He questioned, almost in a teasing way since Tavi and Reek wanted Skeet to prove himself. However, his tone his his purpose, he overlooked the pale wolf once more before stepping back a bit to let Reek handle the situation.

The newcomer knew how to properly submit on the borders of a pack. Respect went a long way with Reek, and though he wasn't one to lord his position over others, he still wanted to feel like the top dog. Novak had earned himself some brownie points in Reek's eyes, and if Novak's intention was as he said -- to join the pack -- he needed to earn himself as many as possible.

Normally, Reek would have gone into his typical pack joining interview, but it seemed Skeet already had it covered. Instead, Reek remained silent as he wordlessly studied the prospective joiner.

LSG. He assumed this was the acronym of whatever pack this was. Novak wasn't surprised when the question was asked, he expected it, nor was it unusual for the lower tiered wolf to ask the question, he noticed in his first evaluation that the new Beta had done the same while the Alpha observed.  It was strange he hadn't asked his name before starting any real questions, though he didn't say anything.

"Before coming here I'd been apart of a military pack," He began, "I was trained rather well to fight in any condition." Novak believed every pack should have a strong defense, and would do his best to aid such defense in whatever pack he may be in.

His offer? Strength in battle. Any wolf could fight, though not every wolf could win. Skeet looked over Novak, a judging gaze covering his eyes. He didn't look like a fighter to him, where were his scars? Skeet was a fighter and he could prove it with his own evidence, but the man in front of him looked clean.

He looked towards Reek, who was staying silent as his subordinate gave the interview. He returned his gaze to Novak. "A military pack you say?" He asked curiously, though he returned to being a bit bored. "Any wolf can fight. You are scarless, where is your evidence that you have experience in battle?" He asked.

Skeet believed strictly in 'seeing-is-believing'. If this wolf said to be a warrior, then sure as hell he would need to prove it. Skeet would wrestle the other if need be, he wanted to know what this guy had in him that was special. Scars were not hauntings to Skeet, they were trophies. They were proof that he got into a fight and survived, they didn't make him dreary. He almost liked telling stories about how he got them, of coarse Skeet always liked to talk about himself.

So, according to the prospective joiner, he could benefit the pack with his skills of being an alright fighter. Well, at least it was implied by the fact he hailed from a military pack. Unless he was thrown out for being absolutely crummy, Reek had no reason to believe that this wolf wasn't up to snuff. But still, talk was cheep, and just like Skeet, Reek wanted to see evidence of the prospect's skill first hand in a real spar before giving him a place among the wolves of the grotto.

Typically, Reek would have challenged Novak himself, but the alpha male turned to Skeet and nodded.

Reek took a step forward and finally broke his silence. "Well then, let's see it then." Having been beaten in a spar by Skeet, Reek knew he would be a worthy adversary for most -- even those trained in combat. "You two should spar. We'll see how it goes from there," he said, smirking.

Novak was confused at first, in the past he'd been such a good fighter he didn't earn any scars as he always won rather quickly and sufficiently, and if not was quick enough not to gain any lasting wounds. "My evidence is that I am scarless," he pointed out, wondering if they would understand. The offer wasn't one a strange one, so he wouldn't back down from it. He nodded, as in accepting the spar, and began to ready himself for the fight that would soon take place. He looked back at the Alpha, "I'm assuming if I lose, I won't be allowed to enter?" Such an idea was fair enough, and he wouldn't object agaisnt it—thinking if he were in charge of a pack he'd do the same. But he's had his taste of leadership, and was rather bad at it, so such a role would never come around anytime soon.

He had yet to fight any wolves in Teekon, only the ones in his home and rival packs. Where most of the training was all the same, but this wolf, he had different ways of strategy and in truth, the pale wolf feared losing. It was uncommon for him to do so, but possible. Novak was aware of his large build, even if he weren't in a military pack such a figure was obvious built for strength, of course fighting didn't just come for strength, it involved thinking, analyzing, to him at least.

Ohhh, he was scarless because he won his spars! Skeet gave off a little snort, covering his laugh. This Novak, was quite different. Even if one was to win spars, one could not crawl out without some marks. But that was Skeet, and he had lost a big fight before, thus his own scars.

Novak had asked a question about his entrance, though Skeet did not answer. That was Reek's opinion and decision. He turned to Novak after taking a look at Reek. He lowered his head down to his legs, protecting the neck and chest of himself. He lifted up his hackles in a defensive manner, along with his tail. He took one more glance towards Reek. "On your mark Reek" he implied, before turning back to Novak.
