She was a strange girl in a stranger place. That she knew nothing of these lands was unnerving. She knew even less about its people. Were there even natives? Bird had smelled plenty of fellow vagabonds, but had never the nerve to approach them; there were individuals not so kind as her own immediate family, and even they were not the warmest. Her mother, Siskin, had been a woman with a harsh tongue; but she was the kindest soul there ever was, next to she herself. In Bluebird, she had instilled a dreamers heart. Siskin had become a realist, but had disabled Bluebird at a very young age from having such a harsh outlook on her surroundings. She had been naive, once; but Bluebird had, in her time alone, dealt with unsavory wolves that would steal, and likely have stolen her had she not been so swift. Having no capabilities in combat meant that her exceptional stealth was her only upper-hand in those sorts of situations. She used it, every time; and oftentimes, the wolves tired of the chase.

Bluebird wandered throughout a Forest. Of all the landscapes there ever were, Forests were what she was most acclimated to. She had grown up in one. Coniferous. Her mother had loved it so, and she had insisted that her own grandmother had loved them, too. In fact, the woman had ruled one for a long, long time. Her name had been Nightingale. Truth be told, Bluebird sought the woman, even knowing she was dead. The silver songbird. She sounded like something of a legend. Legends could not die, could they? They lived on...

And it was with this thought that she paused, cupped ears flattening atop her head as paranoia crept into her heart. Lost, again. A place she had never been. She continued moving, slower now, her chartreuse eyes noting her surroundings so that she would not go in circles and escape this place, comforting though it was.

As the young woman carefully looked about the great Forest Antares was studying it. They looked for different things, she, an ancestor she would never find, and he, the measure of worth that he so lusted after. Was it here he needed to be? Was this the place that they had been guided to? He choked back a snort and rolled his blue eyes at himself. If Mother saw him it would be yet another running gag with her, that she could have birthed such a starry eyed dreamer.

Though Antares rarely did admit it, he and his bi-eyed mother were quite alike. She had spent a life trying to live up to the lofty ideals laid out before her. However, her imprisonment had been self-afflicted and borne of the love a daughter had for her mother. A daughter who felt she owed too much, a daughter who judged her siblings on a heartless scale. Antares only judged himself, and scorned the concept of living up to the mistakes of others. In this, and most things, he fell short though.

The gruff male shook his coat out, making himself move and focus on things other than his endless pain and self angst. When he heard the soft steps of someone nearby he froze. He cursed himself for getting distracted again and let out a low warning bark. He had truly not rights to claim (yet) these lands however this area served as his home and he would still move to defend it if need be.

The sound of another caused Bluebirds head to whip in his direction. Her heart met her throat and she nearly choked on it—the being was huge to the petite silver doppelganger—as she near-shrank to the earth. But ah, mother taught her not to make herself so terribly vulnerable lest she be eaten alive. I am trespassing?! I did not—I swear, if I had... If I had only... But I hadn't smelled your mark! Her stammering would get her nowhere, and Bluebird presses against the ground, pushing backward with her forelegs.

I'll go, she whispers, not looking to him, not wanting to appear to be a threat (how sweet, pathetic bird); she could not measure to anything beside him, and would not even try to. Bluebird could not even note the beauty of him, his physique; that he was truly the perfect specimen. The only thought that came to mind was the terror from the mere idea of his fangs wrapping around her to punish her for her error.

While Antares had every intention defending that which he decided was his, he did not truly want to see the other wolf reduced to a quivering lump. The part of him that was extremely dominant appreciated the fact that the submission was so very instantaneous but the other part of him did know that these creatures were not like him. Their life was...docile. Sweet even. Antares stepped forward from the shadows and moved to stand close to the female.

"Calm down." Was his response after she mewled at him some, it was not that he particularly knew how to handle females here (actually, he had limited experience with females he did not share blood with but that did not make it any better) and so he should have expected them to be softer and more fair. She was pale, with enchanting eyes, and there was a part of him that felt bad for disturbing her. The rest was amused.

With a slick little grin inherited from his father Antares stood carefully still other than the slow movement of his tail. "I live near here, with my sister. We do not take kindly to the closeness of others to our quarters. Take heed the next time you enter this forest." He explained. "No need to grovel, shall we start we names?" He asked after a moment of pause. Next he expected her to take the opportunity to run off and escape him and the area.

Had she been another woman, his words would have ignited a fury within her that could not be stopped. But she was the meek Bluebird, and she was not her witty mother. Ah, to be sure, she harbored that very same wit, but it could not be unveiled in her moments of anxiety and worry that she might be eaten alive, then and there.

Ah, so this place was not his? Near to where he slept. Okay. Why did they stay here? Why did they not wander like she did, all the time? Was what she did strange? She took another casual step backward, peering edgewise over her shoulder to be sure the place was clear of that sister he spoke of. Bluebird, she expelled her name as though it were a breath, and it is said and lost on the breeze. It is then she turns to look at him fully before she would sprint off—

And ah, she froze. He was something from a dream. Some memory, taken, implanted. Something strange bloomed within her. And yet, another step backward, even though there was a peculiar desire to be nearer to him. I... have friends, she wanted to say, to warn, but she could not lie. Pack? She asks then, transfixed, still staring without truly realizing she was.

In all honesty the concept of staying was something that Antares questioned frequently. Though he had left The Palisade with his sister and both had been hearty for travel, that had been some time ago and that time had passed. They now were extremely hungry, making them even more Feral than their name would suggest. If they stayed here they would need a pack, and regardless of where they did choose to remain they would need to find a shelter of sorts before winter. With a gruff sound and a shake of his head as she offered her name. Bluebird. Though Salene did not address her cousin's by their married names, Antares would not have known this girl as his blood by any means. Mother had not offered many details to her family, other than to explain that they had been a small unit that she cared for and all had come from the Forest.

Ah, Winterheart. A place of legend, Vahalla almost. While his Father waited in the Great Hall the cream colored female hoped still for reunion with her Forest. Reunion there, with her Mother, her husband, her life. Antares was rewarded with the look on her face and he gazed down on her questioning eyes. It was curious, to stumble upon her so close to his home base. A phrase began on her tongue and he watched as it shifted to the inevitable question. "As of yet, no." He admitted. The question was a logical response. "You?" The fact of the matter was that soon enough he would need to make the choice on who was worthy for him to follow, or who was worthy to follow him.

"Antares FeralHeart, by the way Bluebird." He said after a moment. She had given him her name, it was only....just, to do the same.

No. No, she echoes. I'm... lost. She'd been running for so long, it was no wonder. There was not one place she had remained for too long. She could not tag a name to any place. His name means little to her. She could not know that her own grandmother had loved his father. That in some odd way, they were linked. That she could have been him, even, but as a her, were the fates very different; but the fates intentions brought the two of them here and now, for a reason.

A reason she was unsure of, and a reason she truly did not intend to find out. Bluebird despised these realities, these times where she questioned herself. I don't know that I'll stay, she admits this to him without any real reason to, but she is compelled.

He quirked a brow at her, looking down on her little frame. He was not sure what to suggest to her - they were not in a position to take on another stranger and if they did he would only abide so as Alpha. At the same time, he felt immediately unsure if she should be on her own. She admitted that she was unsure if she would stay and Antares nodded his head at that; it was a familiar question he asked himself frequently. "Nor am I." Came the off handed response.

The FeralHeart was unsure how to put her at ease or truly why he even bothered to try. In many cases he would have just pressed on but here she was, and there he was, and there was a curious concern that he felt as to just why she was out there alone. He did not see her as strong enough, not so far in this meeting anyways. 'Where have you come from, Bluebird?" He asked, trying to put her in a sense at ease.

Where had she come from? The thought of home eased her mind, soothed her; a balm to her burnt to ashes soul. Why had she left, again? She couldn't remember. Somewhere west of the Neve Valley. A place called Boulder Forest. It was nearly literally that; an age-old landslide caused boulders to dot a coniferous forest (trees healed, and young) nearly everywhere. The land was flat, and nice. It was around the Salvajes, but not too close to have faced the wrath of Nova Mountain, a place her mother had told her of. But she had moreso heard of Winterheart Forest. A place her mother was heir to. It is ashes, now, but by the time your grandchildren have grandchildren, perhaps our Endore's will again make the place up...

Her mother had expressly told her that she was an Endore. Takanami was the name of a grandfather she had never met. But she was a traditionalist; she decided to take his name on by choice, though she acknowledged more her Endore roots. Speaking Spanish, for instance, and being... well, herself.

You? She asks then, eyes once unknowingly focused upon the earth rising to meet his brows, not wanting to offend by looking him in the eye.

Antares head snapped upwards, a question in his intense gaze as he looked down on the wayward dove. "The Neve?" He questioned, demanding an answer from her and swiftly. The Neve was where his parents had met, where the Fates had aligned to bring him and his siblings into fruition. It made him curious, it was extremely unlikely that there were multiple places with such a unique name.

"The Palisades to the North." He said quietly after a moment. The lumbering male sat down then, his tail falling limply against the ground. This made him curious; he was unsure of what was happening or why it was the two of them out in the night, but it seemed like there was a reason that they had stumbled across each other.
