BWP thread! Fast paced, please! Backdated to the 27th.
A distant hum of noise kissed his ears as he awoke from his slumber.

Marcello lifted his head and his jaws opened in a big great yawn. The remains of his kill from the night before, a small rabbit, lay discarded near the mouth of the small cavern. He blinked away the haze from his eyes and rose to his feet, first shaking the debris from his pelt, before bowing into a back-cracking stretch. He stepped towards the carcass and delicately grabbed a leg to gnaw on while he sunned himself on the rocks outside. Just then, something flitted down to land on the shale nearby and his eyes darted towards it. A small insect. A grasshopper? He ignored it and headed out into the sun.

Another grasshopper landed near him, followed by another. He continued walking. One landed on his rump and he flicked his tail to dislodge it. The hum was growing louder and his ears twisted forward. A bug fell from above and landed on his nose before hopping away. Marcello growled and looked up, blood turning cold; the trees were shivering. Thousands upon thousands of locusts were crawling over everything. The beautiful spring greenery was being torn apart and devoured.

"Fuck," he cursed, regaining control over his mind and coming full circle to realize just what was happening.

A swarm.

It seemed to happen overnight, yet June slept through it. Only when she awoke in the morning, refreshed and relaxed, did June realize what was happening... and, as childishly oblivious as June was, it wasn't surprising she thought it was downright magical.

There were insects everywhere. June had never been afraid of insects, but she'd never been as enchanted by them as she was when they were swarming everything. From the grass under her paws to the trees standing sentinel over the wilds, there were locusts everywhere. June didn't notice the way they were quickly munching all the foliage, or that there was a frightening hum on the air. She saw only innocent insects in droves and wonders what had brought them here.

A long wander down from Silvertip Mountain to the next mountain along revealed that they were everywhere indeed. June was practically skipping along by the time she reached Nocturne Summit, which she ascended with a sure-footedness that came of living on a mountain. Her eyes continued to sweep along the trees where locusts buzzed and dropped gleefully and munched, but it wasn't until she heard a proclamation of, fuck, that June realized where she was and grew more cognizant of her surroundings.

Marcello was higher up on a ledge, and out of sight of June, but she cheerily called a, "that's not very nice!" out as if there wasn't a literal apocalypse happening right in front of her face and the worst thing of the morning was a stranger swearing.
