All Welcome
A day had passed, though Remmy was no less relaxed about his surroundings. The mountain loomed over them, its peak invisible and ever-reaching, while around them was nothing but stripped trees and dead grass. Whatever place this was, the boy wasn't sure if it was any better than what they had left behind. Perhaps if they went in a different direction? No, Giancarlo was a good Don, he would find them a place soon.

Keeping positive thoughts at the forefront of his mind, Remmy made his way towards a small path that led up the mountain, still being mindful to keep in earshot of the others. There was not much else to do for the time being, so exploring was the best option it seemed. He wasn't really one for socialising, even with his family. So upwards he travelled, turning over the odd rock and sniffing at the dirt underneath, wondering if anything thrived in this barren place.

Having lived his entire life in the Saltlick Basin, Giancarlo had never seen a mountain. It was curiousity -- not just necessity -- that drew the Don to settle his family at the base of the Nimbus Summit. Once had had gotten his family settled in for the night and gotten some rest himself, he was once again claimed by curious intent. While most of the family continued to recuperate from a long and difficult trip, Giancarlo trained his eyes upward in the direction of the mountain's cloud-shrouded peak.

At first, he was apprehensive, but he rose from the spot he had settled in and took a few steps forward toward the rise of the mountain. He canted his head upward once more and followed a winding game trail up the mountain's side. As he climbed, the scent of his nephew grew stronger -- soon, the boy came into view.

"Remmy," he spoke softly, approaching his nephew. A thin smile spread across the Don's face. The boy was hard to talk to, delicate -- but he was a sweet boy nonetheless. "Whatcha think? Pretty neat, huh?" He made a wide sweeping motion with his muzzle toward the view. Surely, it would even be better the higher they climbed.

Giana, unlike her mate, had not been born into the Ferretti family. Her first year of life was spent as a rogue with her father, and the mountains had been their favorite place. Not because of the dangerous crags and smooth, silent stone, but for the way it seemed to place you right in the middle of the sky. He'd taught her all he knew of the stars, astrology, and was the reason she was who she was.
It was such reasons why she'd gone off on her own, finding a more difficult alternate path up before Remmy and Giancarlo had even started up. The regal female picked her way carefully up higher, leaving her usual inconsistent markings every couple yards. Again, not for anything other than her own possessive needs. Part of her wished the family would make home here, but something nagged in the back of her mind that such wouldn't be the case. Maybe she'd talk to her mate later?
Scents drifted up towards her, eventually, of Remmy and Gian. Doing some exploring, she assumed, like everyone else most likely was. This wasn't the ivory queens first time up the mountain, she'd slipped off the night of arrival to watch the stars for a while before the sun woke the world.

Probably a cameo or something :)

The cranky old douche bag awoke fairly early in the morning as always. It were his old bones on the hard ground that did this and the lack of a den. He was sure that, if they really settled somewhere in the future and there was a soft den stuffed with leaves or something, he'd sleep fine. For now though, he was as moody as ever.

One eye opened at words from his son, and he snorted softly both because of the sand that had made it's way into his nostrils and displeasure. He lifted his chest up, followed by his belly and ended up in a sitting position. He clicked his tongue and yawned, stretching as he cracked his bones in the right place. He sat back down, blinking a few times before letting his gaze go up the mountain. God, he hated that thing.

Perhaps today he would look for water to go fishing, get some meat for his poor ol' body, because no one else here would go do anything for him. He got up and started walking in a random direction, if not stopped.
