All Welcome
Chroma hadn’t been a member of her pack long, but already she felt an overwhelming sense of dread and confusion. Never before had the ebony wraith been involved in such an arrangement. Usually, it was just a twosome; her mother and herself, wandering aimlessly day in and day out, making enemies as they traveled, being chased off again and again. For once, Roma decided to break the cycle and attempt life in a normal sort of fashion; but that didn’t make her any less anxious about the whole situation. A loner by nurture, the she-wolf hadn’t a clue how the whole “pack life” thing went. And, from her meeting with Burke, it was probably obvious.

As the female traveled lazily through her new home – Blackfeather Woods – she attempted to find some kind of comfort. Her large, black paws stayed along the stream that ran through it, ears twitching with every step she took. The sound of the stream was familiar, even relaxing. Despite the woods being barren from the locus that had revenged the lands, she still felt safety within the woods. Their darkness would always provide the comfort she needed, even now.

The female paused in her slowed moments, allowing her silver eyes to glance around. Nose shuddering slightly, she wondering if any of her new pack mates were around. After all, she’d need to acclimate to how things were done here. She’d need to fit in, learn names, and figure out this new life of hers. Hopefully, anyway.

This morning she had woke up before her lover, which was quite early infact. It had been before dawn that she licked his maw and parted from the den. She had never been one for sleep, no matter how much her body needed it as of late. The whole concept of closing her eyes to ignore what was happening outside irked her, although after full day of scavenging did her system crave. There was always something to come, something to overcome and something to cause her trouble. Lately, that happened to be a particular girl, Malice. However, she had realised she had better accept it was more of a permanent situation until the children were born. No matter, she had things to do than fret about Malice. She had attempted and failed at catching a simple crow yesterday, to her disatisfaction. She was out of practice, and in the worst time.

When the sun finally rose and the air was no longer chilly, she was still without luck. There was nothing left. Well, that was until she found a new looking female wandering about her territory. It only took a second for her to realise another had been added to their ranks. Good, this was good. She neared the female, walking into step with her. It was plain to see Nemesis was the Beta, and she expect to be treated as such. "Hunt with me," It was an invitation, but she did not think the female would decline. They need the food, and they needed the effort.

The ebony wraith wasn’t expecting to find another member of her new home so quickly. In fact, Roma had hoped that she’d sullen around a bit; wander in the lonely, dark woods, while thinking about how this whole new “pack” thing was going to go. The female had always relished being alone; much like her mother, she wasn’t exactly a social butterfly. These days, Roma realized, she was becoming more and more like her.

While she had paused briefly, a companion came along. It was obvious from the very moment the female came along that she had a large, demanding presence. A leader, if she so dared to assume. Similar to when she met Burke, the female seemed a least a bit out of her element; the submission thing was … odd, to say the least. But, she made her best attempt with her ears and body lowered back respectfully. She hoped, at least, she didn’t look as foolish as she felt.

The invitation to hunt was surprising, but somewhat expected. Even though the lands were barren from the lotus, they were surely growing back, albeit slowly. Chroma nodded, gesturing for the female to lead the way. After all, Roma was new to these lands and she hadn’t a clue where any real game may be hiding.

Link to roll.

The submission was awkward, to say the least. The stranger seemed a little out of her comfort zone, or at least unsure of her footing. She did not discourage new comers but ones that had never belonged to a pack before often proved to be more of a hassle than a asset. No matter, she would be keeping a keen eye on the female for quite some time. If she did not show any potential, she would be cast away anyways.

The hunt commenced, Nemesis leading the way although her nose could not pinpoint a large enough prey for them both to take down. In fact, it was rarely the case nowadays. Instead, she kept aware of any movement between the bushes, or within the trees. When nothing arose, she signaled for the female to pan out, for them to wander opposite directions but close enough to be a hunt party. Nemesis herself had grown thin, the outline of her rib cage appearing in the right light. She was not malnourished, having dug up all of her caches to feast upon, but she was not sustaining on the little among she was getting. They needed more.. she needed more. It took her a few tries for her to eventually snag a mole, clamping her jaws down atop its head as it resurfaced. But it was not enough.

She continued to pace forward, the tail of the creature snug between her jaws. It would not be taken, by the female nor anyone else. She wondered how Malice the Bitch was faring, probably starving with those rats inside of her. What a mistake. Maybe they could just eat her children instead? There sure was reason to.
