For @Aeronwyn!
Sometimes, it felt good to run.
Burly legs outstretched in a gallop, Denali thundered over the plains at dawn, kicking up bits of frozen dew as he went. His agouti fur billowed in the breeze left in his wake, streaming back like a fish through water. Ahead, he saw the glacier, and the volcano beyond, and made a mental note to avoid that area and the wolves who lived there, who were undoubtedly fierce.
His hungry mind could just imagine the elk herds taking over this place, their breath rising like steam in the morning light, heels clicking as they traveled. He would circle their elderly, their sick, driving them into the ground like the weaklings they were, then would slaughter them for his meal and for the meal of those he served. The prospect of big game in the Teekon Wilds seemed a crazy dream, now, but Denali had noticed that the rodents and rabbits were beginning to grow larger and more well-fed. Revitalization was coming to the lands.
Skidding to a halt near the edge of the marsh, he let out a chuff and gazed over to where his pack resided, just over the swampy lands. He finally had a moment to himself out here, and it felt great.
