Neverwinter Forest what it's like

Her stomach had dropped, though had hardly rounded. Eshe's hunger was palpable; for other than the drop to her belly, she was little else but bones. Her cubs were getting all her earnings, and these earning, of late, were modest. But she was happy, because it was enough for them, her babes. Enough that she felt their kicks now and then when she spoke to them.

Today, her hunger was unbearable. Her mate provided her with much, though this sustained only the cubs within her. She felt they must be big and strong already, and smiled wanly at the thought.

Eshe was very tired, and as she moved through Neverwinter she felt it necessary to stop at one tree and lean on it for support. A sharp pain in her abdomen caused her to let out a low whine... she looked to her stomach, worried for a moment as the pain rippled through. It was but a tremor, but Eshe wondered at the pain it had caused her, wondered at the meaning of it.

It had been nearly a month since she birthed her four beautiful children, and she was feeling the beginnings of cabin fever take hold. So with Kieran watching their babes, Kaskara had decided to stretch her legs and enjoy a bit of sunshine. Her belly had mostly resumed its normal shape, aided by the severe hunger that plagued the entire pack. Beginnings of new shoots and buds of leaves were popping up, but this promise of life could be as fleeting as the wind, so she paid them almost no mind.

Kaskara walked through the trees, enjoying the sun and brief shade the clouds made for her. Soon she happened upon Eshe, whose stomach was swollen and distended, and Kas moved to her sister's side with a bright smile. How are you feeling, sister? she asked softly, kissing her cheek before stepping back to take her in. It was then that her face contorted in pain and she leaned against the nearest tree. Kas's face grew worried immediately, and she worried over her sister. What's wrong? How can I help?

Eshe was soon met by Kaskara, who had seen her in a moment of placid grace and then, seconds later, distress. The pain was enough to make her fret, and at Kaskara's question Eshe was about to answer a perplexed 'I don't know' when the pain came again. She grit her teeth, looking to the earth and then Kaskara.

It hurts, she breathed anxiously -- Like something is pulling inside of me... she began to pant, but the pain had abated, for now. Or at the very least it was less severe. It's not at all like they are kicking. Had Kaskara experienced this?

Eshe caught her breath and looked toward her. That single glance nearly made Kaskara's heart break; pain and fear was evident in each line of Eshe's beautiful face. What her sister described wasn't something Kas had felt herself, not had she heard of it before. Maybe they're twisted at an angle? she asked hopefully, cursing her failure to learn anything about healing or the birthing process from those in Dal Riata. Does anything help the pain? Try stretching out, maybe they're stuck... She stepped back to allow Eshe some room to maneuver, her brows pulled together in concentration. Who could she call if something was truly, terribly wrong?
