someone(s) he hasnt met? @Gaia @Sansa @Phiipa @Heston @Mella

there was a new dude in the pack, hanging out on the fringes and slowly becoming integrated, as Saena had intended. while Casmir found this weird, he had to agree with the logic of it, as well as admire how Spring intended to respect the rules of his wayward cousin. feeling better about everything, Cas headed for the borders, sending up a howl for the pack newbies.

a fruitless hunt it would be -- the boy had long resigned himself that there was no big game in these lands, but the returning green buoyed his heart. he trotted in silence, waiting to be joined by the Creek wolves.

3/3! Watwat :)

Lingering near the borders was slowly driving him insane. He was a very active wolf, he did not much like staying in the same place for very long. Still, there were some areas of the territory that were more prone to foot traffic. He needed to stay near to these areas to try and catch someone's eye and meet more people. He wondered for how long he would need to stay in this limbo. It wasn't that he thought it was a bad idea...it just simply was not something he personally enjoyed. It wasn't about his enjoyment, however, as he constantly reminded himself. Sometimes pack life was doing what you didn't like, and that is certainly what this was. He was willing though, for Spring and for Silver Creek.

A howl caught his ear and the took a moment to place it. Sometimes calls from further in the lands pulled at his ear and he could only ignore them. He was not yet permitted and would not allow foolishness to have made his time along these borders a waste. This howl, however, was close. He sprung up and head for the sound instantly, still keeping the borders a safe and polite nearness. Before long he caught sight of a wolf, a male this time.

This brute was the first that Heston had met up close within the pack of Silver Creek. He issued a bark, then loped towards the other. Once he was close enough to the other he grinned and offered a simple greeting. "Hello! My name is Heston. I heard your call," He gave a lupin shrug, it was obvious he'd heard the howl. "thought I'd come and meet you." Heston gave the other male a once over. He was younger than Heston, though that mattered little. Age and rank were not ultimately bound, as was obvious by Heston's lack of rank and this male's good standing. The silver male wondered if there might be other hopefuls coming to answer the call and he was interested to see if that would be the case.

The young wolf had remained relativly close to the borders, mostly around the streams and rivers exiting the territory. Her main focus had been to put on the lost weight brought by the famine. Mella's diet was still mostly fish, but mice and rabbit had become more common over the past few weeks. Currently, she sat in wait of the flash of scales that gave away the presence of a fish.

A howl rang through the air just as she was getting ready to snap at the stream. Her ears stood on alert, turned in the direction the sound had drifted from. The brown female stood and pulled herself away from the stream to follow the howl, though she stopped at the border as she did every time.

A howl rang out and there she was! Phiipa wanted to prove herself to these wolves, as she had to Laika. The white wolf had been very nice and she was excited to meet others like her. Hopefully the whole pack had the same vibe that Laika gave off, making her feel welcome into their family. Ipa made her way towards the source of the howl and stopped to see three other wolves. A chocolatey black male, a grey and white male and a lighter brown female. She barked in a friendly manner, waiting until after the grey wolf finished introducing himself before stepping forwards. She was too polite to interrupt.

The beautiful golden female bowed her head in respect to the pack wolf, and spoke with a smile. Hello sir. My name is Phiipa and it is very nice to meet you. You two as well. She turned after greeting the black wolf to speak to the other two. Possibly new by their scents. It was nice to know she was surrounded by fellow newbies.

yay! hey guys! ty for joining!

the first to join Cas was a muscular pale fellow, though affable of demeanour and voice. the boy took an immediate liking to him -- he grinned. "Heston. i'm Casmir." the Delta couldn't help himself, however -- he took a once-over of this Heston to satisfy himself of the other's abilities. the other man didn't seem threatening now, but you never could be sure.

a cinnamon female arrived soon after -- Casmir drank in the sight of her fine-boned frame and appealing eyes. Laika was his mate and the most beautiful thing in existence -- but he could still look, right? window shop, just as long as he wasn't putting anything on layaway. "hey," the boy greeted.

lastly, a woman showed up who reminded Cas immediately of Behati, and the old guilt bit sharply at him. she too was pretty in a quiet way -- this Creek was a pack of females, though, which was totally fine with him. "i'm Casmir," he repeated for the girls' benefit.

Of course! Thanks for tagging!

The other male seemed friendly enough and returned Heston's grin. Perhaps there would be friendship between them in the future. He smelled of the other wolves in the pack, of that tell-tale Silver Creek scent, but more so Heston thought he could smell one above the others. He couldn't quite place the scent, he hadn't spent enough time with the wolves here to know who he'd caught on the borders and who he'd met in person. He was almost sure it wasn't Spring, but all the same he couldn't exactly tell. Was this male courting a female of the pack?

Before he could consider things further, another arrived. She did not bear the Silver Creek scent as strongly as the male which likely meant she was a hopeful like Heston. Her fur was wholly brown, but a lovely shade. Heston smiled charmingly at her and dipped his head in greeting. The three of them were not able to get much said before another body arrived, another female. The number of females to males in this pack suited Heston just fine. He was a lecher by any means, but he was appreciative of the art of the female body and fluent in the way of flirting. He enjoyed the act of flirting quite a lot with appropriate females, considering it to be much like a dance.

This female was golden brown with varying shades of light and dark. Her eyes were yellow, like those of the first female. Heston dipped his head to her as well, smirking pleasantly. "Greetings Phiipa." The name was strange in his mouth and he stumbled over it slightly. "My name is Heston. It's good to meet all three of you." He looked to from Phiipa to the first female and then back to Casimir. "I'm glad to be meeting so many new wolves again. The loner life can be...well, lonely." He said with a chuckle and a shrug. He let his gaze shift lightly between the wolves with him, waiting for the next to talk or for Casimir to speak to his intentions for calling.

No problem. I consitered not joining since I'll be putting all of my wolves to 'away' tonight, but I need the joining thread (and Mella needs friends).
Ahead  of her were two males, but she didn't think anything of it. The young female was still at an age where they weren't yet an interest. The dark male looked at her slightly longer then she'd have liked. She would've responded with a snap in his direction if she'd known the reason her friend's scent stood out on him more then the other pack wolves.

Looking to the pale male, she saw what appeared to her as a friendly smile followed by a nod. Mella returned the smile but didn't lower her head, as another female came to join them.

She was brown as well, but with varying shades. Shortly after the second female, who introduced herself as Phiipa, had arrived the males followed with their own introductions. The dark male called himself Casmir, somehow she felt it fit. Heston followed after, saying more then just his name. "Mella. And depending on how you go about things, being a loner isn't too bad..." Her mind went back to her time alone and quickly corrected herself. "nope, it is that bad, don't mind me."

The black wolf repeated his name once more, Casmir. It was a very nice name. It fit him. Upon further inspection, Ipa realized that he smelled a lot like Laika. Perhaps they were mates! The thought made her smile, but she didn't say anything yet. She was just meeting him and it went against everything she'd been taught to be uncourteous. But Laika had become an instant friend, and she was very curious to know. She'd wait, she was a patient girl. The other grey male introduced himself as Heston. A strange name, but also fitting. He spoke of the lonely life a loner leads (god tongue twister), and she nodded. She too had felt lonesome of her travels and was glad to be in be company of such nice wolves again.

And then the brown female was Mella. A pretty name for the girl. Mella seemed to have a bit of a conflicting thought process, and Ipa chuckled a bit. She had a very soft laugh, nice to the ear. Much like her two sisters. I did not like being a loner. It made me miss my family. It is very nice to meet you all. She said with another respectful nod, this one more directed to the whole group.

the four of them introduced themselves and then bantered briefly, Cas grinning among them. the pack was strengthening, and that was a pretty neat thing. when their voices had faded, the boy cleared his throat. "you know, prey is still fairly scarce, but there are four of us. d'ya guys wanna go out and see what we can find?"

the Mayfair boy had a strategy he wanted to implement, but he needed to say-so of the others first. however, Cas was confident that they would follow his lead. there was no large game to hunt, after all.

Casmir, Mella, Phiipa. He stored the names away, noting their faces and scents. These very well could be wolves he lived with until the end of his days. Often times fate was not so kind as to allow such a fairy tale ending, but he could be hopeful if he liked. He chuckled at what he perceived as a joke from Mella, nodding to her. There had been some parts of loner life that weren't so bad. He'd enjoyed many sunsets from places he'd otherwise never have gotten to experience, many views he'd never have seen. He'd met a few nice wolves, though none that he really had any concrete memories of. It hadn't all been trial and tribulations...but it mostly had.

He could agree with Phiipa, it had made him miss the comforts of home most certainly. He'd thought he'd found the solution to that, but things had not worked out that way. Perhaps here was the real solution. As everyone's voices faded, he found himself looking back at the male for instruction. After a moment Casmir cleared his throat and asked about a hunt. Heston wasn't sure of the terrain nor the collection of prey that was available. He knew the famine had driven much away and he had seen little beyond small prey, but he was eager to help the pack and prove his usefulness.

He smiled and nodded, tail waving once or twice. "Happy to! Hunting together will be nice, it'll be a nice reminder for when we hunt as a pack. It's been a while since I've had to think for more than just myself as far as hunting." He knew hunting with a group was different, it required you to not only think steps ahead of your own self, but ahead of your packmates as well. He was rusty, he wasn't afraid to admit it, this would be a nice way to brush that rust away for true hunts.

posting to keep this current! feel free to post again, @Phiipa @Mella

Heston was a chipper sort -- Casmir caught himself grinning as the quarter moved toward the borders. two girls, two guys -- yeah, this was a balanced set. he trotted along the greening loam, muzzle low and searching for prey-scents. he hadn't found the spoor of large game in quite some time, but careful perusal of the ground soon turned up a warren of rabbits for the dark wolf.

turning to the other three, Cas woofed gently and cut off to the left, intending to pincer-circle the warren in the midst of his little hunting party. whatever they caught needed to be taken home, but maybe this tactic would ensure everyone would get a bite today.

Oh I'm so sorry if it was my turn, I completely missed it!

Casmir offered to hunt, and Phiipa smiled. She liked hunting, and would do her best. Of course it wasn't exactly where her skills shone best, but she always tried. She was better at care taking. Healing and dealing with pups. And being a chronicler was a dream of hers. Hunting was more of a necessity than a goal in her life. I would be delighted to hunt with you. You lead the way. Phiipa followed Casmir through the returning undergrowth, nose flat to the ground. She had always been a better tracker than actual hunter, though was efficient enough at both.

The young golden female smelled rabbit, and apparently so did Casmir. He lead them towards the scent and stopped at a warren. Perfect! Working together they could draw out and catch whatever hid inside. The dark furred male woofed lightly, indicating a circle formation. No rabbit would be getting past them. Phiipa did as said, circling the edges of the warren. She was eager to begin, but would wait for Casmir's next order. She didn't want to spoil anything, that could end badly.

Confused on posting order, but going to post just in case.

The set of them traveled onward and soon the scent of rabbit was in the air. A suitable hunt, with luck they'd all get something today. Heston wasn't truly expecting to eat what he caught though, he figured he would give it over to the pack. Better impression that way, right?

Casimir indicated they would need to encircle the prey and Heston followed without hesitation. He'd missed hunting as a group! He stepped carefully as he went, not wanting to send the ground trembling overly much. His eyes were trained for any spot of rabbit, but he would not move without Casimir's word. He didn't want to collide headfirst with another of his group.

i think mella is still on absence? so onward!

pleased with his ability to direct the wolves, Cas paused for a moment to consider his next move. they could try and dig the rabbits out, or they could wait till they emerged. a movement caught his eyes -- it was three or four leverets, outside of the burrow in the tall grass nearby.

jerking his head at Heston, the boy began to stalk forward, muscles tense. he wouldn't give the order to attack until his entire party had focused on the targets.

Looks like Phiipa is taking a break as well, so just the boys now?

With his eyes trained on the warren area, and an ear in Casmir's direction, Heston waited. His eyes caught the same movement that Casmir's had, and without turning his head he moved his eyes to the male. Heston saw the jerk of the other male's head and nodded to himself. He moved forward carefully, silently.

He spread from Casmir so that they would approach the rabbits from either side, with luck they were limiting their route of escape. Every step he took was carefully planned and weighed, he watched for rocks and twigs, for anything that could make a sound. He stood tensely, waiting for the order to charge from Casmir.

He was pleased to see that the male was good at leading hunting parties, at the least. It was nice to know that the pack he was looking to join had talented members in their different trades.

sure! we will powerplay them lol

Phiipa and Mella thankfully cottoned on to the tactic, and four pairs of wolf-eyes soon trained themselves on the hapless young rabbits. slowly the boy crept forward, motioning that Phiipa go with Heston, while he and Mella cut to the side. the quartet worked smoothly, encircling the rabbits, and Cas paused only moment before leaping toward the prey animals with a ragged lunge.

it was the signal! his teeth snapped on soft fur and he hoped that the rest of the hunting party had done the same. if they could catch all four rabbits, Silver Creek would have a feast indeed, but even two would suffice.

Going to assume everyone is successful for fairness sake. And just in case it's "excellent", "congrats everybody". haha

They worked like a machine. It was if they had been hunting together for ages, rather than only having just met. Heston followed Casmir by circling opposite, noting that Phiipa came behind him. They grew closer and closer, the hares still unaware. Heston watched their twitching whiskers a moment before glancing to Casmir. He saw the brute's muscles tense, his body lower and he copied him. As soon as Casmir sprang, Heston followed just a second behind.

His jaws closed around one of the hares, ending the creature before it could expirence too much panic. He noted Phiipa beside him had jumped with him, and she too had taken a prize. He lifted his head, rabbit in his mouth and grinned to Casmir around the fur. Finally his eyes caught Mella and saw she too had something in her jaws. "Effellint!" He murmured, tail wagging. "Cografs efvribuhdy!"

haha! wrap up w your last post? <3

by some dumb luck, they had seized the four leverets. Cas was so stunned he merely stared between the three other wolves, then dropped his prey and laughed at Heston's muffled antics. "score!" he hooted, passing rough nudges all around before grinning. "let's get home and bring these to the caches. go team go! you all did super boss."

Sure thing!

Dropping his own hare, he received Casmir's bumps with a laugh and a wagging tail. If this was to be any kind of sign about his future in Silver Creek, he was pleased. He glanced at the females, offering them small nudges of congratulations as well. He turned to follow Casmir then, grabbing his hare. He supposed since Casmir was escorting them, they were allowed further into the Creek to deposit their gifts.

He was sure Casmir would mention the hunt to Spring and Laika, simply because he was the one leading it. It was his success more so than theirs. The pale wolf was pleased with the day's activities and he only hoped he'd be as successful hunting for his own belly later. Once the rabbit was safely stored, they all parted ways. Casmir seemingly to the heartland of Silver Creek and the rest of them back to the borders. Heston didn't linger with his newly found friends, though, he bid them farewell at the border and set out to find his own food, a smile on his face.
