All Welcome

In the time following her brother’s death, everything had become a blur. She’d never been without him, even when they’d been captured as little kits in that trash can. They’d never separated them during their care and released them at the same time, in the same place, and since then, their game of hide and seek had finally come to an end. It would be her turn to hide, now, but she knows it’ll never happen. She won’t turn the corner to stumble upon him finding her, surprising her into a shriek, but it doesn’t stop her from searching for the perfect spot.

Twix wandered around most of the time, never staying anywhere for more than a night but she also had no real plans of going anywhere. She simply… just existed. As the last few hours of daylight disappears into the night, Twix lazily hangs from a tree. The branch isn’t too high, making her hanging down easily seen, but high enough to still have an advantage to most predators. She drops her hand, letting it swing slowly back and forth as she adjusts and sprawls out as much as the branch will allow.

bump to present?

She was exhausted, and moved to settle beneath a tree— she could hear the movements of other woodland creatures, but paid them little mind. She would not be hunted, and had no desire to hunt them. With a destination in mind, though there was no telling if Maudlin were there, she wanted to arrive as early as she could so that she could return to the Corvidae before winter struck.

Rook settled at the tree's base, curling in on herself as tightly as she could, and closed her eyes.

Twix does not move when she first hears the foot steps, staring down at the ground as her arms moved lazily back and forth. Her tail droops to one side and she sighs again. She stills her arms when the dark creature comes into view and she shifts a little for a better look, gripping the limb and pushing herself up. Instead of passing by the tree, the canine lowers to the ground and makes themselves comfortable. She narrows her eyes and fixes her seat in the crook, saddling the branch above the predator.

Now that she’s held up in the tree, the urge to get down has never been greater. While she doesn’t really know what to do, she decides to make the best of it and see what she can get if only to give her… something. Twix snaps a twig from the brand and drops it, watching it fall to the wolf below.

Her ears twitched at the sound of a twig breaking, but she remained unmoved when there was no footfalls that accompanied it— until, of course, a stick fell squarely upon the top of her head. Rook's eyes snapped open, head lifting to scan the tree above her. At first, she saw nothing, but as her eyes adjusted fully to the darkness she was able to make out a silhouette and then a banded tail. A raccoon, which might've been prey had the dark woman been hungry, but was in this moment a simple nuisance.

"Rude," the wolf admonished.
I've seen all the demons that you've got.

She was merely passing through, exploring the foreign territory one area at a time. Having dozed most of the afternoon, Muses felt restless, unable to sleep. Allowing her restless paws to carry her where they may, she loped silently across the taiga, watching the scenery around her change, blending from one area to the next.

Once again she found herself in a sparse, forest like area. It was nothing like the dense forest that she had initially travelled through from the north, but she preferred it to the open plains and valleys, especially since the world was not yet blanketed in snow.

A sharp crack urged her to stop immediately, body lowering cautiously. Muses looked about, anxiously licking at the front of her maw. It was followed by a soft thud, and then a single word. Had the dark furred wolf not spoken, Muses might have ran right past her. Instead, she stood several yards away, attention trailing the emerald eyed gaze. When she spotted the cheeky raccoon in the tree, she couldn't top herself from openly chuckling, amazed that she had literally just stumbled upon this bizarre scene.

Twix isn’t entirely sure what to expect when she drops the stick but as the wolf realizes what’s happened and stares up at her. Twix leans forward just a little as if she might speak but she’s distracted by the chuckle in the distance. She shoots a quick glance to and now shuffles uncomfortably. It is two against once and if they really want her, she doesn’t stand a chance. But what does it matter at this point? If she doesn’t have her brother to go home to—unless you count his shallow grave she knows she can’t protect—then what’s she meant to do? Instead, she remains silent and watches between the two predators on the ground.
