As she had done before, the huntress had caught first a small catch. insignificant to her, one who prefered the hunt to be a challenge. yet for another, grounded predator, it would suffice, especially now that winter approached quickly. thus she soared over the river, lazy circles becoming lower and lower until the topmost branches of trees were inches below her talons, the body of the fox a larger weight then she would have liked to carry.

. she dropped it then, listening as branches snapped and finally the thud as it hit earth. the she landed with deadly silence on a sturdy branch, fierce gaze fixated on the rather dead fox and the much more exciting prey it might bring forth.

Pyro never thought it could happen, but suddenly, when he least expected to find his lunch, it landed right in front of him with a loud thud and a crack, sending him backwards with his tail between his legs and ears tightly folded against his skull in surprise. A fox, he found out when he found enough bravery to peek out of the bush he'd hid beneath. And with shy steps he approached, looking around as though he would find dad looking at him with a huge smile saying 'LUNCHTIME'. Burke was nowhere to be seen, only the red corpse of the fox, severely savaged, awaiting to be devoured. The talon marks didn't raise a flag, not to Pyro, but he was wary to inspect the body from up close before digging his fangs on it. He had yet to refuse a free meal, being one to enjoy being tended to rather than serving himself.

The speed at which a wolf did arrive was remarkabley fast, and the huntress's eyes glinted with a feirce hunger. Not yet, however, first she would wait. wait, until the brown male, small yet still a good meal, grew closer to the meal, until he buried within it his fangs and fixated on the prey, sound and delicious.

then, she struck. slipped down from the branch in a brief flash of wings, taking a hunters approach, fast and deadly and accurate as she attempt to grab the scruff of the male with her talons, wings beating to keep her aloft. she was no fool to think she could make off with the male with ease, though perhaps she could pull him off balance, strike where he was most vulnerable, and eventually, feast.

Let me know if you don't want me here

Burke had been looking for Pyro to, in fact, give the boy his lunch. The male was carrying a rabbit which he decided was enough for the boy right now, though he couldn't really find him anywhere. Usually he was somewhere around the den. Maybe he was hiding from something again. Burke couldn't tell.

He was forced to tack his son down, follow his scent trail from this morning. It took him awhile though but when he heard something of a struggle. Burke dropped the rabbit and charged forward. He saw his son being picked up by some bird of prey. Burke instantly snarled at the bird in mid-run. How dare this bird think of his son as weak enough to be a meal. He was going to make this bird their meal if he could. Burke tried to leap for one of its wings and bite down on it.

The fox was exquisite, delicious, magnificent! Pyro could not resist it no longer, and didn't hold back when he decided it was finally time to eat the thing. Burke was not around which meant he hadn't brought the food, but Pyro didn't really care, or even know he had to care...

But then he realized of his mistake. Bad, bad mistake. He'd taken the bait like a dummy, and just like that he found himself estrangled by some pretty gigantic and messed up talons. It came from above, huge, beastly, and Pyro did not know how to fight it. He tried though, failing to connect the minimal of blows. He was at the bird's mercy, and he would spend his last seconds on earth crying like a little bitch.

Luckily he had Burke, who despite his obvious disappointment towards his son was Pyro's father regardless. He came to the rescue, trying to get the bird as it dragged Pyro away and towards the sky at an inconveniently slow pace for her own goal. But still she was too high above to take any good blows from Burke. And Pyro's yelling was proving to be close to zero% helpful.

"DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAD!" he screamed in terror,
"DAD HELP ME" he shouted repeatedly,
"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA" he added every now and then, but none of those things would release him of the eagle's hold.
