All Welcome
Feel free to accost Miyax! She is on the western edge of the territory where the heaviest scent markings are. Whether you consider that trespassing is up to you. Set on December 8th, in the evening. Tagging @Spring and @Casmir for visibility.

The sun had gone away. It was hard to remember that this was not the Arctic sometimes. The light was temporarily absent, but for Miyax, the dark was just as clear. She moved with quiet persistence between the trees; her head was low, her nose eager for any secrets that this land may hold.

She had not eaten in many days now and she had become gaunt in the face, her pelt losing its luster and hanging across her nimble figure. Miyax crossed paths with an old fox scent, was led astray from her route by a commotion in some nearby bushes some time later (which resulted in being a fat, masked, point-faced rodent of some kind she had never before seen), and then something better was presented to her: wolf scent.

Her hunger was forgotten for the time being, because the single marking led to a series of others, until she had stiffly crossed through them and in to the no wolf zone beyond — a daring feat for a hungry rogue.

As she passed between the trees she found more markings. She knew that this to be pack, and she knew to respect that; yet her desire to reconnect was greater than her fears of reprimand for betraying the most important rule of wolf law: to stay out of the buffer zone. She had not been invited, after all. But Miyax was excited — her tail whisked eagerly behind her, her head briefly lifted between each patch of urine or scat pile or earthen etching — because she had been away from these familiar scents for so long!

These wild calling cards were enough to bring a wolf-smile to her face.

As she was emboldened by the prospects of finding others of her kind once again (and tainted by her own youthfulness), she ignored the dangers. The reek of wolf was all around her, and she buckled at the knee, rolling in the icy winter grasses in order to gather those scents upon herself greedily. Every so often she would repeat the process, and gradually she learned of the beasts that lived here.

The most dominant scents were of a female - hale of health, carrying the sweet scent of pups, which could have indicated a new mother. Second to that was a male scent; younger, but with nothing remarkable to discern. She rolled in both, and then rested with her belly to the earth.

he patrolled, and kept the faces of Cortland and Mona in his mind's eye as he did so. he could not leave, he had decided, not with the pups still so young and vulnerable. they needed him, as did Spring, and Rowan. unbidden her vision came to his senses but the boy pushed it aside - why, he did not know. she had been a great boon to him, a gentle comfort, and several times he had suggested he move his den to be closer to her and the kids. Casmir was tired of being lonely, of lying in a cold den that only held his fragrance and none of Laika's own.
the breeze shifted and brought to him the scent of an intruder, and his frustration sharpened into a knife-point that he held before him as he loped through the woodland, nares flared and hackles bristled.
he saw then a wolf rolling along one of the further scentmarks, and snarled loudly as he slowed to approach. the stranger had trespassed, but Cas was not so stupid as to attack without just cause — the threat of injury was too great to risk this season. he snapped his white teeth in her direction all the same, legs stiff and tail thrown high over his hips. "what the fuck do you want?"

Casemiro had arrived first, but Spring had happened to be out patrolling the borders and when she saw some random loner rolling in their scent marks she was not at all please.  Her lip curled almost instantly and a low growl seeped from her throat.  "Leave," she growled, she didn't want this wolf here, didn't trust them.  Although she did want to know why this wolf was here as she had heard her Beta ask upon her arrival.

She surveyed the lone wolf briefly, taking in her structure in case this did lead to something, because while she did not want a fight this close to winter, you always had to be prepared.  Others could be unpredictable and deceiving.  She didn't want this wolf to surprise them, even if they were outnumbered by her and Casmir.

Miyax wore their scents like a mantle. When they came upon her, she did not stand. The first to find her was the male—young, but full of vigor. His coat seemed well-kept (if a bit wild) and he had a fierce look about him. The arch of his tail confirmed her thoughts about him
leader.

His stiff-legged approach told her many things. Chiefly, his posture said: I am in charge, I do not like you. Miyax knew it would be hard to win this wolf over. She wriggled towards him through the snowy grass, prostrating herself upon her belly, and whined softly. Her ears were back and she tried to submit. But there was another sound, the rushing sound of paws in snow and then the warning growls of another wolf. Although Miyax did not understand the words either creature spoke, she understood tone and body language. It was easy to see that this other wolf, this female, was uncomfortable.

More importantly, this was the same wolf whose scents carried those of puppies. With some shy glances Miyax determined that she had been wrong; this woman might've carried their scent, but she was no mother. Her body would not have changed so drastically in such short a time. Perhaps another had been granted the breeding rights? Curious — but there was no time for Miyax to be thoughtful. She mewled again, then rose up on to her paws and curled her tail against her belly, all the while asking with her eyes and the sweet notes of her voice, can I stay? Miyax had perpetrated a crime according to wolf law, though. She was young and foolish, and had offended both of these creatures already. She was pushing her luck indeed.

i have no clue if this breaks post order..

Natashe had felt something was wrong, very wrong indeed and had followed the scents of both Casmir and Spring to the western part of the territory. On arriving she saw Casmir's posture was one of Threat and Springs was not exactly friendly either. Moving to the side of her Sister, she felt her own pelt bristling and her lip curling over her fangs, as deep golden eyes landed on the submissive and mewling female. She flicked her gaze over to spring, a question in her eyes and turned to the female again. stepping forward with stiff-legged movements she snapped her jaws, ears laying flat against her head "Go. I assume you've been asked." She snarled lunging forward and closing her jaws around the air in front of the females face, teeth making sharp Click Click click! noises as she made the gesture of a final warning. Even if her words were not understood for some reason, her body posture and actions surely would be.

the woman did not rise, but showed submission, and this relaxed Casmir somewhat. his eyes remained trained upon her as she inched toward him. the boy would have extended his muzzle to take the scent from her nape had not the alpha appeared -- his posture changed and he stepped back at the harsh grit of her words. Casmir hoped that Spring would consider listening to the language of the stranger's body, and parted his lips to speak on her behalf, but they were joined by another.
disregarding the pair of leaders handling the stranger at the border, she asserted herself and this pissed Casmir off. he remembered how he had treated the male who came to the borders when Saena was leader, how he'd angered her and while it was important to show cohesion, the Beta gave Natashe a warning growl all the same. "it's being taken care of."
he turned his golden eyes upon Spring now. "i think she wants to join. maybe she can't talk. what do you think?" his tones were even and he kept his plume lower than her own; there was enough tension here and he didn't want to add to it.

She didn't like this wolf and especially did not want her here.  More than that she didn't like now foolish this wolf was.  Who knew when this wolf would make another mistake.  Sure she had shown some submissiveness, but she had tresspassed and that was not something Spring took lightly.  Then her sister appeared and made a mistake, trying to shoo the wolf off and stepping out of line.  Casmir was quick to scold and Spring let him do that, she had other things to worry about right now.

"She tresspassed Casmir," she replied to her Beta after he had spoken, "who knows when she'll make her next mistake and even if she can't talk I hold no pity for her.  She tresspassed and a wolf that tresspasses with no excuse does not deserve to stay.  She should go... now."  Her lips curled back and an agressive snarl rose within her as she stared straight into the eyes of the younger female.

Miyax knew the law of the wolf. She knew she had done wrong in coming this far, but she also knew what she had witnessed back home. It was a common occurrence to find wolves throughout one's territory; those that held interest in joining made themselves known, as she had. They rolled in scents, they shadowed the hunters as they wandered, or tried to mold themselves in to the chosen group as flawlessly as possible. Clearly this was not the result that Miyax was accruing.

The (perceived) leader spoke. The words meant little to her, but their tone was everything. His posture, every subtle look and shift of his body, these things Miyax read and understood. The third wolf to arrive in defence of the borders was quickly discliplined. Miyax remained submissive. She filled the air with a soft whine as she looked upon Casmir — even when the other woman began to turn upon her.

It was heartbreaking, but it was the way of things. Something unsettled these wolves and no matter how hard Miyax tried to appease them, it did no good. She was on her feet within a few moments, unwilling to push her luck, and creeping backwards. All the while she looked to Casmir with pleading eyes, a curved and contrite posture to her body, and her tail curled to her underside — maybe if she was lucky, maybe, maybe...

However, she was back across the marked line and through the no wolf zone, tracing her path in reverse, and only gave a fleeting look back at the missed opportunity.

now back at Spring's side she kept silent as she watched the cowering form of the mute female. The woman had begun to back away, yet still stared at Casmir with pleading and begging eyes. Could she not take no for an answer. She seemed to think that Casmir would plead her case to spring. "She has been told to leave, yet she still begs. Can she not tell we don;t want her?" she asked out loud, staring at the woman with narrowed eyes before breaking away and looking back and forth between Spring and Casmir.

he nodded crisply. Spring was right; he shouldn't have questioned her. turning on his heel and her word, he snapped his long white jaws in the direction of the female, who had begun to retreat. he leapt into her tracks and chivvied at the empty air her flanks had departed. there was no more need to plead her case; she'd gone, and, satisfied, he turned back to Spring.
the boy's salmon tongue darted out to lave the underside of his alpha's chin and he turned a cool glance on Natashe. "please follow her; make sure she leaves." giving the newer wolfess a chance to redeem herself would hopefully appease any lingering anger Spring might hold.

The quiet female left them, still Spring hated the way that she'd looked at Casmir.  Like her Beta would give her a chance.  The loner had made a mistake and the mistake she'd made Spring feel no sympathy towards her.  Now that she was gone, she would not be coming back.

She nodded agreeing with Casmir's words.  "Yes, please go make sure she actually is leaving Nat, I don't want her thinking we'll go soft on her if she tries to come back."  She remarked, her gaze lingering on the lone wolf as she began to fade into the distance.
