He sees his mistake but like any creature born of arrogance and the belief that he knows what he is doing he sees it when it is too late. Neverwinter Forest clings barely to life it’s ranks filled with wolves the viking does not know and does not wish to. Ondine’s grip on the Forest, all her grand promises have slipped. She has failed. She has failed him and his contempt and ire is mighty. It burns within him like the fires that warm the halls of Valhalla: like a great beast clawing at the door to be released. Release me, it pleads, but he looks to his son @Arrille and he is torn. He cannot leave him. He cannot leave him with his mother and he cannot leave him in the paws of wolves that are complete and utter strangers to him. The whole purpose of his descent from leadership was to be a good father to his son and he feels as if he has failed. “I will be back for you, son.” Kjalarr promises but he knows a singular truth: Ondine had driven everyone he loved from Neverwinter and he cannot stay to watch it’s further decline. It is a sinking ship and Kjalarr has no intentions of drowning. He will rip Arrille from their jaws if he has to but they would not deny him his son. First, Kjalarr knows he must seek some place for them to first live.

The task will not be easy but nothing in Kjalarr’s life has been easy, expect walking away from the poison that has overtaken the Forest. He crosses over the borders for the last time, ready to leave Neverwinter Forest behind him until he can find his footing and reclaim his son. Until then, Kjalarr has to trust that Arrille is still of some value to Ondine and her pack of strangers and that they can manage to keep him alive long enough for Kjalarr to rip him away.
