Greatwater Lake drown in thunderous sound

With the afternoon heat beating down on the Flatlands, most of the herds are bedded down in the shade, or hiding out in the thick woodlands. She expected this, of course, but it was worth a check to see if any older members could be picked off for an easy meal. Again, she cannot help but think of Rainier. If he had not given up on her; if he had just decided to listen, they would both be well off. But she had dwelled on sentiment over the boy for too long; it was no longer worth the effort, nor time. She was two years old now, past her yearling growing pains, and it was time to really hunker down and make something of herself. Without him.
Carolina lifts her nose, and draws her lolling tongue back into her mouth as she sniffs at the wind. She frowns. Nothing. She braces all four paws against the ground for a quick shake before cutting a sudden left and making a beeline for the lake. Her grumbling stomach can wait a few more hours.

At the lakes edge in the reeds crouched a hulking wolf he had waited there for more then an hours span, and finally his opportunity arose a swan swan close to him, he liked goos better they were meatier but this would do, he was no feline he didn't have endless patience to wait.

He burst forth and crashed into the water snapping the Swan's slender throat in his teeth, the bird struggled and squawked but quickly fell silent as he walked back to the bank and climbed upon the shore.

The brute gave himself a mighty shake to get the water off and remove the life from the bird now made into a meal. His eyes caught those blue one of the female moving toward the lake with purpose. He grinned and waited for her to approach him, maybe she'd avoid him altogether he hoped not, he'd quiet like some company, He had left his fledgling mountain pack in favor of hunting and finding other wolves who might want a place to call home. So far the pack had more males then females and he desired to even out the ranks, though males were warriors and smart to boot, he enjoyed having intelligent females to draw upon in hard times. They had a sixth sense about things that he and other males lacked.

He bobbed his head in greeting to her, unable to speak with his mouthful, unwilling to pull the swan down unless he knew it was not going to get back up again.

Perhaps it would have been wiser to shadow the elk.
As she approaches the lake, a cacophony of noise from the shore catches her attention and jerks her out of her thoughts. Her ears prick, and her nose flares as she inhales the latticework of scents; on the fringes she can smell the male and, sure enough, there he is right in plain sight. The hair on her spine stands on end for a few tense seconds, until she is able to properly take in his stance and smile. She relaxes a fraction.
Her eyes dart to the swan, then up to him. She doesn't return the nod, but she does roll her eyes and head back to the water, paws carrying her gracefully over the soft shore to stand in the shallows a few yards away from the stranger. With another cautious glance towards him, she lowers her muzzle and laps at the cool water hungrily.

Ignored; he shrugged his shoulders and decided to take matters into his own paws and walked toward her setting the swan at her feet then nudging it in her direction. He took a few steps back and sat down casually.

Hi, I'm Ferdie Von Pelt He offered by way of introduction, not expecting her to use his full name, but now he was hoping to gain her name, though he was hopes were not to high since not many wolfs he found were fond of giving up their names. He could not understand this ritual it made no sense to him.

He titled his head to the left and watched her for a moment; if she continued to ignore him he'd simply depart for his pack lands. Though nothing would make him happier then a amicable meeting right now
