The sun was settling as Rueger walked
along the borders. Thankfully, all seemed calm. There was no indication any wolf, or other unwelcomed creature, had crossed the boundaries.

Rueger spent most of his time along the edge of the territory, ensuring it was heavily marked and secure. He also hoped he'd see Valette again. He wasn't sure where that was going, but he was trying to be patient.

Though the day began to slip into its evening gown, and a chill permeated the hollow that didn't entirely come from the weather, Deshyr was out and about, trying to warm herself up— physically and mentally.

She made a great effort not to come across any of the unfamiliar faces looming about Lost Creek, and this had become something of a game to her over the last few weeks, though she knew it must have disappointed her already ailing parents to some degree. Her brother seemed to be handling things with the most amount of grace and due diligence, but she could not share his steadfastness.

Approaching the borders at a clipped pace, she was contemplating how difficult a trip back to the Sunspire would be, when she noticed Rueger approaching. It was a massive relief to see him, and not some Valleyer, coming her way. "Rueger!" she shouted, bounding towards him with ungainly, pre-teen stilts she called legs. "How's things lookin' out here?" she asked, momentarily forgetting her plan to run away.

When his  name was called, he lifted his head as his ears perked, his gaze searching for the source. It landed on Deshyr, a young pup of Rannoch's. His tail wagged and he gave her a friendly smile as the distance closed between them. Well, hello, Deshyr, he said smoothly. Things are quiet, he confirmed to her.

He looked around, as if to confirm, but then turned his sights back on her. What are you doing out and about so late? he asked with a grin, She was too young to be outside the borders on her own, he was sure. Maybe she had simply seen him and come over, though he didn't consider himself quite that special.
