The warm day was slowly winding down to a cooler evening, the sky overhead shifting from light blues to dark indigo as the first glimpse of stars began their twinkling dance above. Fang was winding his way through a a small outcropping of trees alongside the small stream that broke apart the Northstar vale. The majority of his attention focused on the familiar scent of small game nearby.

The half-breed was by no measure a seasoned hunter, but when it came to smaller animals, he could hold his own more often than not. This evening was no exception, a sudden movement nearby and he was atop a small rabbit in an instant. Gotcha! Quickly putting the small animal to death he looked around for a suitable area to begin his meal.

He moved towards the stream, rabbit in mouth, his tail giving a rather happy looking to-and-fro.

A white figure dipped her head towards the water, gently lapping at the cool sustenance that refreshed her as soon as it touched her pink tongue. She drank her fill, the crystal drops latching onto her muzzle. The ripples cleared away into a perfect mirror, and the first peeking stars reflected onto the surface, winking brightly.

‘The moon shall be out soon…’ Luna thought quietly. Her head reared back to glance up at the darkening skies, blue and green eyes turning their intensity towards the heavens. It was nightfall already, and she had been hoping to reach her destination by the afternoon. It would have to be tomorrow.

For now, she had to find somewhere comfortable to rest for the night, and perhaps hunt something to satisfy her growing hunger. After all, she had hardly had anything to eat since morning.

Stretching out her athletic legs, the wolf began to stalk along the stream, eyes darting wildly to spot any signs of game nearby. Her small black nose was daintily held in the air, sniffing carefully. Paws abruptly stopped in their path, her ears flattening against her skull confusion. She could smell the metallic blood of a game, but there was also the presence of an unknown being up ahead. It smelt like wolf, but there was something mixed in with the scent, and the unfamiliarity bothered her greatly. The wolf paused, contemplating, but the need for food and her instinct to hunt only grew stronger.

Luna pressed forward, only stopping when she caught sight of another wolf-like being with a dead rabbit in his mouth. She immediately stiffened, not knowing what to expect from this person who had a strange scent. Her guarded expression stared at him, and she lowered her stance defensively just in case.

“What are you?” She asked flatly. Her conscience told her this was really rude, but she knew better than to appear fragile to others. She had learnt this lesson the hard way in the past.

Fang was once again unaware of the approaching female, his thoughts too caught up in his minor victory over the victim he clenched in his jaws. A grin erupting from his face behind his prey. Tail held high as he strutted towards his chosen destination.

What are you? Suddenly he froze, golden eyes directed straight at the creature, which to his knowledge, had not been there a moment before.

"Geh uck?" the less than articulate statement struggled to sound over his food. With due care he dropped the rabbit to the ground, tongue rolling over his lips, savouring the familiar tinge of blood.
What was the problem with these white wolves, elitist females talking down to him, pfft He looked over the female taking note of what was before him.
The meticulous well groomed coat, to her different coloured eyes. The small frame, Dainty he thought to himself. Though she seemed to carry herself with a particular aura. He was a little shocked, to say the least.

"Not half as attractive as you, if I'm any judge" why did I say that a dull half smile left on his face as his words echoed in his own ears. He stood awkwardly waiting for the repercussions of his words.

"Geh uck?"

Luna’s forehead crumpled into a slight frown, as she watched him struggle to talk over his mouth full of dead rabbit. Unblinking eyes stared at him questioningly as he carefully dropped his catch onto the ground and licked the traces of the red liquid from his lips. Her stomach clenched at the sight and smell of the delicious food waiting to be eaten, but she inwardly hushed her growing hunger. The rabbit was not hers anyway, and she was above stealing from others.

"Not half as attractive as you, if I'm any judge"

The white wolf blinked at last, wondering if she had heard the words correctly. Any other girl might have blushed at the obvious compliment, but Luna only felt a sudden surge of annoyance. She believed she was hardly worth a look; was he mocking her? Besides, she had decided long ago that appearance was just a superficial aspect of life that had no importance whatsoever. It could also be deceiving, and she wondered if the same trick was being played out right now in front of her.

Her teeth bared into a scowl, the sharp canines glinting under the first rays of moonlight gleaming from the blanket of night. The white bushy tail flickered in irritation, and her ears shot forward as her mismatching orbs narrowed into slits. Luna stood her ground, still in her defensive position.

“I don’t care about that. You didn’t answer my question, so I’ll ask again,” she said in the same flat tone. “Just what are you? You look wolf, yet you do not smell completely like wolf. Answer me honestly!”

Her tone was intense and demanding, her dislike of being fooled around oozing out from the words she spoke.

The male found himself a little captivated by the female before him even as her teeth flickered into existence at her less than gracious response to his words.
Fang found himself lowering his head, marginally, his ears flicked and his tail dropped just enough to show his offered submission at the offending words he blurted out. Moving a few steps closer, enough to be standing over his previous quarry. Despite her appearance he felt she'd just as likely take his food and flee.

He let out a single bark of a laugh, half heard before he continued. "My bad, you caught me by surprise." Lifting his head he checked for reactions, an apologetic smile spread over his features.
Doesn't care about that? Probably sick of those sorts of comments with that appearance.

"Firstly, I'm Fang, and as your sweet little nose already explained, I'm not entirely wolf. Sweet little nose? What the hell man he screamed mentally, keeping the best apologising face he could manage, he continued. " My matron was domestic, a dog. My father was not, and I am me." His gaze lifted to match her own, if only for a moment, trying to gauge the reaction behind those multi-coloured eyes.

ooc. Ahaha sorry, Luna’s just hungry (I’m hungry too T__T) and strung up because she’s never smelt dog in her life. She’ll probably become nicer in due time once she gets to know him. ^^

Luna’s eyes widened slightly as the male before her lowered his head—an obvious symbol of submission and apology to her accusations. She immediately felt ashamed of her behaviour, and she realised it had mildly echoed the dominance her father had enforced upon his pack. The girl suddenly felt ill at this thought. She wanted nothing to do with him. She was nothing like him.

The internal battle raged within her eyes as she saw him move a bit closer. Her gaze refused to leave him and her ears rang sharply as he let out a short laugh that sounded more like a bark.

"My bad, you caught me by surprise."

An apologetic smile spread over his exotic features, and Luna felt another stab of guilt in her heart. She had acted too rudely, out of defense in a situation she had thought unusual. It was a major flaw on her part, another reason to add to the list of dislikes about herself.

"Firstly, I'm Fang, and as your sweet little nose already guessed explained, I'm not entirely wolf. My matron was domestic, a dog. My father was not, and I am me."

He stared deep into her eyes, and she gazed back, her mind whirring with questions and unorganised thoughts. She had heard stories of creatures called dogs, but had never met one before. It explained the strange scent he had, mixed with the earthly smell of wolf.

Luna nodded to show her understanding, and to display her willing acceptance of his answer. She wanted no quarrel with this half-wolf, and he seemed a pretty decent character, despite his jabs at her appearance. There was no big deal about his strange mix of blood—Luna simply did not care. Everybody had their faults and Fang’s hardly seemed an issue.

“I’m Luna,” she said. The hard edge in her voice was now gone, replaced by a soft lilting tone that had a hint of sorrow. “I apologise for my behaviour earlier. I have never met a dog before, and your mixed scent caught me by surprise.”

The white wolf smiled half-heartedly at her own act of reflecting back his earlier words.

A strange pang erupted in Fang's chest as she matched his gaze. He'd met his fair share of lovely creatures in his journey but the way this one carried herself, the regal bearing mixed with the almost divine white of her coat and the intensity of her dual coloured eyes caused a youthful excitement to flood him.

Luna he repeated in his head, listening to her apology his submissive stance was quickly replaced with a more relaxed pose. The hinting tone of her words not entirely lost on him as she smiled. Readily assuming the half smile was an attempt at calming and portraying a more friendly pose than anything else.

Shaking his head at her last words, he spoke with a smile "Well it suits, your name that is. Besides you're far from the first to ask me what I am.." he trailed off for a moment recalling his last encounter with a "what are you" "Funnily enough, the last to ask was a white wolf too." whats with the stuckup white bitches? He laughed softly for a moment before continuing.

"So Luna, what brings a lovely specimen such as yourself to be wandering around these parts?" Lovely specimen? Ugh. Biting his tongue at his own stupid words he took another few steps forward before sitting in front of what was to be his dinner. Lifting his nose he gingerly sniffed at the air. "You don't have the scent of a local."
