Slowly, she has been carving out a temporary life for herself and her family in this lonesome hollow. Filling caches with prey and herbs, helping to patrol, looking after the place. Meanwhile, the pups grow bigger day by day, and she wonders when it will be time to move them to a more permanent, secure location. Surely soon, yes?
Megara pads over to the whelping den, a leggy hare clenched in her jaws. She sets it outside and gives a gentle croon for her niece-in-law to aid Nyx in keeping her strength up. She settles nearby, laying on her belly, hoping to catch a better glimpse of the newest Melonii.
They have survived for so long in so many places. It never fails to amaze her. And though the uncertainty of the past days is undoubtedly disturbing, Megara knows that, just like every time before, they will endure. Beyond that, even—they will thrive.
