All Welcome
Jo explored to the edge of the wood. The furthest north she dared go, at least until she noticed the irregular silhouette of a mountain in the distance. There were a few ranges within view - most of which were days away, or so she judged. With a glance over her shoulder to the forest she had just made her home, she considered ignoring the desire to investigate, but then spontaneously decided to go ahead with it.

An hour or two later, she had left the woods and could be spotted by a low-flying carrion bird as she hiked the caldera's undulating hills.

As she prowled Jo made mental notes; she kept tabs on where the sun was positioned in the sky so as not to waste her whole day roaming, for one. Bits of greenery were trying to fight the frosts and emerge for an early spring - some of which she picked with a rake of her teeth, others she trampled or left behind without interest. If she were to prove herself a capable midwife when the time called for it, she would have to look the part. On the way back she would make sure to grab a bundle of herbs if they were available.

For now, she roamed higher and higher - until the light glimmered around her, illuminating the red in her coat and making her an easy target for the vulture that followed her.
