Newborns are so hard to write! All welcome! :)

Levi had slept, ate, wriggled around, ate some more, and slept again. Now he felt a very strange sensation in the pit of his belly, a pressure building on both sides. He didn't know what to call this feeling, but it made him uncomfortable. He squirmed and wriggled, mewling in discomfort, as he slowly distanced himself from his siblings.

Eventually, his tummy brushed against something protruding from the ground, and he suddenly felt better as a warm liquid rushed out of him. With a yelp of delighted surprise, the pressure in his belly lightened somewhat, and he felt better for it. Gurgling, Levi began to crawl again, this time looking for yet another midday snack.

Julooke had been exhausted after birthing her pups. She didn't know it would quite this tiring, especially when she could only catch a few minutes of sleep, at the most. She was constantly worrying the pups would squirm away and not be able to find their way back. Logically, she knew the chances of them squirming their way out of the den were slim, but the fear was enough to keep her at least slightly awake most of the time.

Her ear twitched as she caught the sound of a mew, but it didn't seem alarming, so her head remained resting on the den floor. The light smell of urine, however, caught her nose, and her head lifted. She immediately went to work cleaning and bathing Levi as he tried to make his way back to her belly. With a back paw, she shifted some dirt around, covering up the liquid and the smell. She then checked the other pups to make sure each of them was comfortable, and tended to any that might have had Levi's problem, too.

Levi didn't have to roll around long before his mother caught him and moved him back to her belly, licking the liquid from his belly and legs. He felt much better after that, though he didn't know it was called peeing. He would learn eventually, though, and he'd have a lot of fun threatening to pee on his brothers when they bothered him.

But for now, he turned back toward his mother's belly and searched for her teat, using his little paws to massage the milk up into his mouth so he wouldn't have to suck so hard. Gulping, he quickly drank his fill and began squirming around again, looking for the perfect place to nap.

He settled down next to his mother and slept.
