all welcome - late morning

bone of the father, unknowingly given
you will renew your son
flesh of the servant, willingly sacrificed
you will revive your master
blood of the enemy, forcibly taken
you will resurrect your foe

Not a day went by that she wasn’t out patrolling. It didn’t matter if it was hot or cold, wet or dry. The scarred woman had a job to do and she wouldn’t settle for less than perfection. She refreshed scent markings along the border, and made sure that there was no sign of trespassers crossing those markings. She did whatever it took to make sure the borders were safe, and the secrets within were kept even safer. She stuck firmly to the "outsiders aren’t welcome" that she had gotten used to enforcing for the last couple of years when she faithfully followed her Aunt. Now that she followed her cousin, her aunt’s only living daughter, Aguta would do whatever it took to protect her cousin and the pack as a whole.

She had been so very pleased with the fact that she wasn’t having to start at the bottom as everyone else that had come was doing. Aguta knew that she was going to have to be prepared to do whatever she had to in order to remain above the rest, and was willing to do just that. If it meant she had to fight to remain where she was within the ranks, then so be it. She was far from the sniveling youngster that she had once been so long ago when she’s first crept onto Siku’s doorstep. Aguta was older, wiser, and far more willing to fight than she had been before. Life had hardened her, though there was still a softness to her beneath her hard exterior. It was something that, thus far, only one had seen and, if she could help it, that would remain that way.

Standing atop of a ledge part way up the side of the mountain, the scarred woman had a clear view of quite a bit of the area on the side she was on. From her vantage point, she was able to easily watch the comings and goings of not only strangers but others within the pack, as well as prey as it scurried about, readying itself for the coming winter. She was ready for it; winter. The scarred Gamma knew that the pack was going to need to start doing some pack hunts to store meat for the coming winter. It was something she’d been thinking about for a while now. For the moment, though, she was content with standing on the ledge and watching the borders.

CHARMYTHREAD! *pounces*

Certain things about this place reminded him of home. The steep, rugged peaks that stood silent vigil over them, casting black shadows over the lands they cradled and funneling winds across the lands between their high, rocky arms. The way the mists came down from the higher elevations at dawn, creeping across the slopes, undulating over the gentle hills and rises, weaving between the trees like gauzy, veiled ghosts. The songs of the hawks and the eagles who rode the lofty thermals high above, glaring down on them like kings upon their subjects. The pure, golden richness of the sun pouring its honeyed light down upon them from the crisp, chilly autumn skies, the way the forest smelled after the rain, the way the breeze hummed and stirred in the silent nights. So many things reminded him of Anubivaalua, his home pack on the shores of Beartrack Cove; he could not understand if it was homesickness or something less somber, more powerful.

Whatever the case, it kindled within him a love for this land, the beginnings of a deep-seated attachment and loyalty to his new home. It was the bond that attached every wolf to his pack, creating within him a devotion so fierce that he would die to protect the soil he claimed as his own. And thus he was driven to patrol and protect, keeping an ever-scrutinous eye on the outlands of his territory to ensure that no one who sought to harm or threaten them ever got the chance. He was like one of those kingly eagles, his gaze of simmering fire scouring the lands from high atop the craggy spires of the mountains that hugged his lands. Ever on the move, he made it his highest priority to refresh markings, intercept strangers, and make note of new signs of prey movement.

And so, of course, he did not miss the great black she-wolf that stood perched upon the crags above him as he moved through the high ground in their territory. He drew to a halt, silvered mane bristling slightly as he scented the air. He did not recognize her, but he knew her scent quite well from around their lands and thus accepted that she was not a threat. He woofed a soft greeting to her then, ears pricked forward in interest at this fierce new packmate he had yet to meet.

HI BBY! ILU! I need to poke Steph to get Aguta's rank on her thingy D:

bone of the father, unknowingly given
you will renew your son
flesh of the servant, willingly sacrificed
you will revive your master
blood of the enemy, forcibly taken
you will resurrect your foe

From her perch upon the ledge, she could see him clearly. Though she did not know him, had not officially met him, she knew his name. Being of the rank she was, the Gamma made it a point to make sure she knew the names of those beneath her, especially since she was fully aware that she could easily be challenged, and possibly unseated, at any given moment. Holding her rank was important to her. It was a rank that she’d not even been close to reaching while she’d faithfully followed her Aunt Siku. It was disheartening, of course, but this was a new place, a new start, a new life even if it was still Tartok.

He woofed a greeting to her, and she gave a visible nod as she lifted her tail, though not nearly as high as her cousin held hers. She would display her rank, giving it no second thought, though she didn’t really give it a first thought either. It was instinct that had her doing such a thing, instinct that she’d learned during her years following her Aunt. There was a lot that she learned during those years of following her Aunt, and she carried those learnings into this new place. The scarred woman was a beast of a woman, a force not so easily reckoned with, but she also knew her limits.

After a few passing moments, the Gamma finally issued her own woof. Her voice was just as powerful as her appearance. Motioning with her muzzle, she gestured for him to come up to where she was, granting him permission to approach in a sense.
