borders of BFW

Onyx had continued on her journey east. She'd hadn't stayed anywhere too long. But now what she saw intrigued her. A tremendously dark forest stood tall and ominous before the curvy teen, intimidating her yet sparking her curiosity. She'd never seen a forest that dark. It was as if the woods just ate up whatever light tried to get through. She approached the edge, only to find scent lines. A pack lived here? How could they stand living in such a shadowy woods. Surely it would drive them mad. How.. She murmured, just utterly stunned that anyone could have their life centered around that place. The girl backed a few feet away from the border, diamond eyes flashing nervously. What did such a deathly forest say about the wolves who dared to live there?

Jensen rarely ventured out of the territory, finding comfort in its enclosed sanction. It was a safe haven filled with wolves he trusted entirely, not necessarily out of companionship but the sense of family. Families were not required to like individuals, but underneath there was a trust and satisfaction that they would, inevitably, be there should another fall. It was a new sensation for him and he found himself strangely addicted to it by seeking out as many pack mates as possible, engaging them in meaningless conversation and then catching a nap. It was a simple life he lived, but that afternoon he finally breached the territory markers and embraced all that was the Teekon Wilds, starting with flatlands.

His paws carried him silently into the foreign landscape while his eyes zoomed from object to object, drinking in as much as he could to familiarize himself with the area. Every minute detail registered in his brain - everything from the trees and the shadows to the she-wolf and the rivers and.. wait, what? Jensen did a double take to reassure himself that he was not, in fact, going crazy. A lone woman stood nearby, seemingly uncertain about the forest in front of her. "Are you okay? Do you need help?" She didn't look injured or like she needed medical attention, but as he approached there seemed to be an aura of discontent hanging around her.

She turned- and her mind was off the wood for a moment. And she thought her eyes stood out! Take a look at the ones on this guy! Two different colors. Onyx wondered how that happened. Then he asked if she was okay. I'm fine, Just a little surprised, is all. A pack actually lives in this dreary wood! I can't believe anyone could stand living in there. She said, her voice mildly disgusted as she glanced at Blackfeather. Who could live there without sunlight in such a dark place?

He was used to the startled looks by now. It was always amusing to see how someone reacted to his unique trait and watch the battle inside their head: should they say something? Should they pretend like the wide eyes was how they greeted everyone? More often than not, folks chose to remain silent about the matter; this woman was no different. His muzzle wrinkled in a small smile as she dissected the pride territory. Alright, so this chick didn't like dark places.. good to know! Jensen stared beyond her for a few moments and into the dreary forest, his head dipping in agreement. "It does seem like a depressing places, but who knows? Maybe it's not like this all the way through. It could be pretty farther in, you know?" The eta really had no idea, but he hated the idea of chalking off something so quickly. What if the world's most beautiful waterfall lay just beyond the blackened trees? "Could be worse, too. Could be a giant cave that leads underground to a bunch of freaky tunnels." He shuddered at the thought and took a few moments to remind himself that he was above ground, in the sunlight, and not confined in the least. Claustrophobia was not his most admirable trait.

Onyx nodded thoughtfully, though it was hard to imagine the wood getting any prettier the deeper you went. She couldn't imagine there being some sort of paradise hidden deep in the heart of the dark forest. At his mention of freaky tunnels, Onyx shivered as well, afraid of the thought of ever getting trapped in them. Her diamond gaze burned into the wood, though it could not penetrate through the tress to see within. Her blue eyes turned back to his multicolor ones. Well, I'm Onyx. What's yours? She asked him with a curious tilt of her head. She wondered if it would be something like 'multicolor' or 'twoface' about his eyes.

Jensen looked beyond her into the woods, scanning the area for signs of life. He, too, found it hard to believe that any type of animal would dare to call such an intimidating place home, but then again, that was probably the idea. Not many folks would trespass into such a dreary place intentionally unless they wanted to spook themselves, and considering the two wolves standing outside were already fairly put off, he assumed going in any deeper would turn his dark fur white with fear. The canine grinned despite himself and then returned his attention back onto the newly introduced Onyx. With a chivalrous bow, that young wolf offered his due respects to the lady. "My name's Jensen. I'm new to this place so I was just explorin'. Know of any cool spots around here? Hidden waterfalls or awesome views? Somewhere a little less spooky, maybe." Not that he wanted to sound easily intimidated, but moving away from the spooky place would do him some good.

She smiled at him kindly, friendliness in her diamond eyes. Nice to meet you, Jensen. No, I'm afraid that I'm new to this area. I come from the coast, if you where that is. West of here. She said, in case he really didn't know and had never been to Sequoia Coast. Realizing she truly didn't know this land made her fear for herself, and she momentarily wondered if she should head back. She glanced back up at Jensen. Since I don't know a good spot, you wanna look around? We could explore near here together. Onyx suggested to him. She was up for exploring as long as she was safe.
