Story continued from here
After drinking his fill, Kisu walked until the trees began to disperse. The sun was rising, with a mixture of goldenrod and bright rose colors, spreading into violet through the clouds. He took a path that wound around the backside of a fierce mountain.
He came upon a small creek and drank for a moment. Keeping his head hung low and stepping through the cool stream of water, he realized he was feeling weak. He had caught a couple of rabbits, but they were not sufficient in keeping him full; he would have to catch a bigger meal soon, or he wouldn't have energy for capturing anything, even hares.
It doesn't help that I haven't slept in days.., he thought to himself. He sighed and found a small crest with a cove to sleep under. He would be protected from attacks on three sides this way. After looking around with his eyes for a moment, he sighed again and lay his head on his paws.

When Kisu finally woke, the sun was transforming the sky into a mixture of deep purples and forms of navy blue that would eventually spread into an inky black. I must have slept for almost two days, he thought to himself, still feeling wiped out. He did have more energy, but his body felt flimsy and sore.
He sighed and stood up, stretching while doing so. Circling around so that he was on top of the mini ledge, he walked away from the creek. Kisu had no idea where he was headed or what his purpose was.
He almost started to miss being part of a pack; he was ultimately good with other wolves, besides being on the quiet side. Definitely a believer in saying only what must be said, he mostly kept small talk out of his vocabulary and got straight to the point of things, unless he really connected with someone... He hadn't conversed with any other wolves since he had left his last pack. For some reason that resonated deeply within, and he avoided any whisper of contact with another of his species. Kisu pondered if it was time to join again, or even start his own pack.

After another full day of walking, Kisu had not only passed a lake, but, some time later, came upon another forest. This one was much more spaced out, with colorful flowers mixed in with many types of trees. Plus, he could still see the starry sky. Many creatures were making nighttime ventures, and scurried away as he lingered by them.
This is a pain in the ass, he cursed in his mind after a few miles. Once again, he was out of energy.
"I should have drank from that lake I passed..." He mumbled out loud.
Kisu decided to change his plan, and, instead, cut back around and head towards the body of water he walked by hours and hours ago.

When he reached the lake, Kisu collapsed near the edge and began to drink. He could hear the sound of what could be his future prey, but his only focus at the moment was hydration and sleep.
He found some berries a few yards from the water's edge, while looking for a place to rest that was also cover from the world. Why not, he thought. It couldn't hurt any.
Kisu walked for a while longer, until he found some bushes near the mountain he had passed some days before. He was starting to feel sick, but chalked it up to being so weary and possibly drinking too much water. He plopped down in the plants and immediately fell asleep.

Kisu woke up to a metallic taste in his mouth, and, before even thinking about it, purged. He stood on weak legs and walked to the lake to get a drink. After swallowing the last bit and turning around, his stomach emptied himself again. Kisu stared at the ground until it was out-of-focus.
After a few minutes, he slowly turned around and tried drinking again, but in small quantities this time. Nothing stayed. He was increasingly weak and famished, not to mention that dehydration was setting in.
So much for eating today, he told himself sarcastically in his mind.
Kisu feebly pushed himself upwards from his laying position and slowly headed north.
