Zombie liked to stay close to the territory claimed by Ookaan, for it represented a safety and security the girl had been missing for the majority of her life. It felt good, most of the time—but at others, like now, the idea of a home terrified her. To have something stable, to not have to worry about her next meal... the concept overwhelmed the quiet female at times. Zombie didn't know how to handle it; didn't know how to exist in a place that was comfortable. Her strength was building, though her form was still too-thin and weak—but she had more energy now than she was used to.

With panic filling her mind with images, sounds, tastes and thoughts she could barely make sense of... with electricity in the slowly-growing muscles beneath her coat building, Zombie began to ran. She ran until her heart thumped heavily in her chest, causing a flutter in her lungs and throat that made her feel sick. While others would be able to run a much farther distance without tiring, the yearling found herself at the edge of a creek.

She set the femur—the thing that truly made her feel secure—down at the bank and lay over the top of it, leaning her head forward to taste the clear running water.

Turquoise rose early, inexplicably charged with excitement. She could hardly wait to begin the day's explorations, though she didn't want to disturb Rivet's beauty sleep. Turq gazed down at her fondly—they had made up since their latest argument—then nuzzled the soft patch of fur beneath her left ear and whispered, "I'll be back before dawn." After swiping Rivet's forehead with her tongue, she then swiveled on a black paw and broke into a lope, hoping to channel some of her energy into finding breakfast.

Her exploration brought her to a creek, which looked black in the darkling light. Turq bent down and took a drink, then licked her chops as her eyes panned over the water. She wondered if fish lived in these depths. Just as she was considering wading in to find out, a snake drifted past and the large Blackthorn recoiled.

"Nope, nope, nope, nope, nope," she muttered under her breath, hastily backpedaling away from the creek.

As dawn light began to fill the sky, Turq debated returning to Rivet, though she hated to do that empty-handed. A frown touched her lips as she paused and reconsidered the creek from afar. She started when she noticed the wolf stretched out on the bank, effectively distracting her. She stared at the back of the stranger's head for a few seconds, then tipped her muzzle into the air, trying to catch its scent. She's a she, Turq realized with satisfaction, deciding to go ahead and approach.

"Hey there," she said, her greeting considerably warmer than the one she often gave to male strangers.
