The journey was almost done; she could feel it!
This year the birds had brought them to the coast, quiet besides the turning of waves. Waawaashkeshi felt good; her children would learn to swim when they grew, to catch fish and break open crabs. She hoped they would be better at it than her, anyways.
Hiding the three pups in tall grass near the shore, Keshi stood wading height in the water. She could see the fish, and it took everything in her not to leap out at them. Fishing was for the patient type, and while she thought her own patience to be remarkable.. a hungry belly made this almost too much.
