Leonore had made a good catch today; a fat rabbit which she had brought back to the den to enjoy on her own.

Laying down outside of the cave, she placed cream paws over the small carcass and sunk her teeth in while watching the gulls above. The stupid things must be waiting for her scraps. She had to wonder how long it would be before they moved on and Sobeille could visit with the Sapphique children.

Her confidence had recieved quite the boost after her visit with auntie. She was still a bit nervous for Marina's litter, but nonetheless felt better about her own ability to help and protect them.

Nearing two months old, Crosscurrent remained a soft-spoken child, seldom raising a fuss. Otherwise he might have leapt to harangue Leonore the moment he laid eyes on her, hungry as he was. It certainly crossed his mind. Instead the boy bounded over to her with quiet eagerness, tail waving cheerfully at his back.

Then he fixed her with an expectant stare, yellow eyes unblinking. Feed me, Seymour.

She had barely taken her first bite when Crosscurrent came bounding up to her with those sparkling gold eyes.

Good morning, Crosscurrent. She spoke through a mouthful, swallowing the meat after a moment. Did he expect her to share? Leonore wasn't quite sure if they could eat meat yet, and given this was her first meal of the day she wasn't sure if he could count on her for regurgitant either. She hoped he wasn't too hungry.

Where's your maman? Close by, she hoped. She didn't want to leave him hungry and risk a hangry puppy.

The meat smelled wonderful, much better than what his mother had been giving him in lieu of milk. But Leonore didn't seem to want to share — or maybe she didn't realize he was hungry.

To demonstrate, he stretched his jaws wide and showed her his open maw. Still Crosscurrent did not blink or waver in his stare.

Feed me.

She wasn't sure, but surely just a little piece would be alright. Carefully tearing of some of the rabbit - just a little - she offered it up to the boy to see if he would eat it.

She hadn't been looking to share, but Leonore had committed to helping Marina and sometimes that would mean sharing her hard earned meal with a hungry baby or two, or three, or four.
