What the hell?
The low whirring had taken hold of Queenie's otherwise unplaced attention. Border patrols, as she had learned, were traditionally uneventful and boring, especially around here. But in light of her recent experiences outside of the territory, she'd also attributed a certain value to the job.
This, unlike a lone wolf or a stray fawn, was something that Queenie wasn't expecting in the slightest. What was it? As far as she knew, no one had ever seen anything like this before, right? It was like a bird, but big as shit. She stood there for a moment, expressionless and overtaken by curiosity, watching the thing hover overhead.
Then, without much warning, her hackles raised to their full height as she lowered herself to mark where she stood, eyes never leaving those of the bird.
