I archived our last thread, so wanna have another? :P I hope its OK that I moved them closer to the flatlands. Seems like the mountains are getting super crowded.
He wasn't so damaged that he could not walk, and even with @Saghani persistently making him stop in order to recheck his wounds, Tryphon wanted to keep going. They rested together in the daylight hours, moving when evening fell, and then sleeping through the deeper parts of the night. Gradually, Tryphon healed. He had no lingering issues to speak of, content in the existence they led and the tender care his shadow took with him. Their migration ended further south along the ridge, but only because the boy did not know where to go next. There had been a great many scents upon the wind lately -- many strangers traipsing through the mountains -- and it no longer felt as safe to the shy boy. He would not abandon the mountains unless the dark woman wished it, though.
Soon they would need to make a choice; it was this decision he was most likely trying to run from more than anything. There was a home offered to him by Asterr, a chance for a home taken by the Porcupine Ridge wolves, and now a number of others rising up for investigation. Some part of Tryphon wished to flee from this place -- he much preferred their singular existence, alone together -- yet a pack would make things easier. The decision, then, would be up to Saghani's discretion.

She had reached a point in her life where she was happy so long as she was beside Tryphon. Whatever else that meant, she did not care. Saghani also had the intent to exact revenge upon the one wolf who had ever wronged her and was living to tell of it, but for now? Saghani was pleased to mend the man she had chosen for herself, truly chosen, and whatever else he desired to do.
Saghani was content to let Tryphon decide the way, now. Having made an error in judgment not long ago at all but a lull in her sense of self-command and ambition. The yellow-eyed wolf was glad to follow Tryphon here or to the ends of the earth. She preferred mountains thanks to her experience with them; they were like another limb of hers, so familiar she was with the landscape. But her priority in life had become not where but who.
Tryphon no longer needed daily poultices to put upon his wounds. They were closing nicely, and there was no infection or risk of reopening unless teeth found them again. No doubt there was still plenty of soreness and perhaps itchiness thanks to the thick scabbing... but there was nothing left for her to do to his treated wounds. Saghani inspected them briefly now, and once satisfied she moved to his side and leaned into him.

It didn't really matter where they went from here. He knew that - she likely agreed with the sentiment, so Tryphon did not feel like asking - but the problem persisted: where to next? The many scents in the mountains had become so overwhelming that the boy no longer felt safe as a lone wolf (even if he wasn't truly alone). With his injury healing, they would both be able to travel farther afield.
The pair moved together in synchronicity; from time to time, Tryphon would lag behind her or rest or slow the pace, but generally speaking they were on par with one another. He did not wish to be separated from her. Thus far, this ridge that they had found themselves stranded upon was the only place not rank with the scent of pack wolves. Theirs were the only heavy scents upon the stones here. Desiring rest for the time being, Tryphon slunk back, forcing her to slow her pace, and then stopped abruptly near the edge of the ridge. He could see down in to the dark which extended in to the plains, but there was little detail.
Perhaps it was time to leave this mountain.

When he slowed down, she continued forward for a short time until she saw there was nothing worth noting here. Saghani turned and went back to Tryphon where he waited, and followed his eyes with her own. Razorback had little to offer the duo but for space. They were away from others of their species, which she did not mind for now. He was enough for her; he would be the only other wolf to hear her voice, she would share herself with no one but him. A blessing and a curse.
Saghani reclined to her haunches and panted, hot despite the cold temperatures. Her eyes fell to him. In their next decision she had nothing to really say; she thought only of survival at this point. Antsy, she rose to her feet again to nose his cheek idly and paw at his forelegs before looking again to where his gaze lingered.

When she came close, he accepted her affection -- nosing at her whispy dark fur with his own nose. In time he'd get up and they could get moving, but first... He would break the silence. While he was comfortable in their shared quiet, things had to be said. Or rather, proposed.
"Saghani.." he breathed her name in to her pelt, and nearly stopped with that. "There are packs here." Obviously. Her nose was as keen as his own -- and they had both dealt with one pack firsthand. "Many." There was a question he wanted to ask her, but his voice waned in power, so he paused to think and to relax. What do we do? He would have spoken -- but maybe she knew where his train of thought was going without him having to speak the words.
