With every passing day, Kaori felt more and more inclined to explore the world beyond their doorstep. Even from being outside of the den, the child could already tell that there was much to be discovered out there. She could not completely wrap her mind around just how vast the world was and instead of thinking about the big picture, she focused on what she could find at her level.

Like her sister, one of her favorite things were leaves. She loved their colors, the way they crinkled under paw-- they were just so lovely. But, most of all, she loved watching them dance in the wind. This was what she was currently doing, lying just beyond the mouth of the den, while she watched some nearby leaves rise and fall with the rolling winds.

Out of all of the positive that came out of motherhood, Asterr was most looking forward to teaching her daughters. She had told herself prior to their birth that the moment they could comprehend the world around them would be the same moment at which their lessons began. Since they’d started leaving the den already, she’d taken that as a sign that it was time for them to learn a thing or two. Whether or not the information would be retained, she wasn’t certain, but wasn’t against the idea of teaching them again at a later date, either.

Asterr had been spending much of her day harvesting various plants, roots, and barks, then depositing them at her medical space. As she’d neared completion for the day, she’d looked over the various plants, selected a white-petaled flower, and then began the trek back towards her den. With the distance between herself and the densite having lessened, it was Kaori who was spotted today. Just as Shiori had done before, it seemed as if the girl had wandered out on her own. Once she’d reached her, there had been no scolding given, only the placing of the flower between the mother’s front paws. “Hello, Kaori,” she’d greeted thereafter, smiling as per usual. “What are you doing today?” For the time being, the flower was ignored, meant to be saved for later.

Nature’s show had stopped momentarily as the wind ceased to exist. Her eyes sought the other wonders just beyond their home and she watched on carefully, at peace in this moment. As she searched, a familiar figure came into the picture and as she realized her mom was approaching, she quickly stood and waited for Asterr’s approach.

“Momma!” she squeaked quietly, reaching up to nudge at her mother’s chest in way of an embrace. Her tail waved happily behind her and she grasped a few stray chest hairs. Stepping back, Kaori looked from the mother to the flower at her paw and she gasped at it. “Prilly! Prilly!” Kaori was very much a fan of all the different plants and flowers out there and this was no exception. Curiosity ensued, and the hatchling quickly added: “Wassit Momma?”

In the very same moment that she’d arrived, the hatchling had reached out to her. The embrace was welcomed, and then responded to as Asterr leaned forward and touched her nose to the girl’s forehead. Always was she glad to see each of her children, wishing not to miss a single development in their lives. It was important to her that she be there to witness everything that she could, for she was glad, still, to be able to witness anything at all.

The flower was noticed, and then questioned, which made her glad. To see Kaori displaying an interest in nature was a good thing, especially since it was one of the subjects that the dragoness could teach her about with ease. “It is feverfew,” she answered. “When your head is hurting, you can use these flowers' leaves to make it feel better.” It could be used to remedy other ailments, too, but headaches were what it’s most commonly used to treat.

Feverfew. Her gaze fell to the flower once more and she admired them then. Asterr was quick to explain just what they did and, to the child, they seemed like a miracle plant. Looking up to her mother, the child’s eyes shone with enchantment. There was so much she wanted to say about the flowers, but the words on how to express herself were lost.

“Prilly!” she repeated eventually, nodding in her satisfaction. She felt that “prilly” still applied to the amazing plants. Now that she had adequately examined them, she wanted to take such matters another step forward. “Can see?” she asked, hopeful she would be able to do just that.

Another child whose interest in plants had come to light. She met her daughter’s gaze and smiled, tail wagging behind her slowly. Indeed, it was pretty, as well as helpful. Hopefully, though, none of the hatchlings would have to use it for medicinal purposes anytime soon. It was far too early in their development for her to even think about them falling ill or becoming injured in some way. She wanted for them to be free of all sorts of hurt for as long as possible; preferably throughout the entirety of their lives, but she was far too smart to believe that to be possible.

Asterr nodded shortly after as she answered with, “You may.” For as long as it interested her, she may inspect it. Then, later on, she would be left to decide what they might do with it.

Her features brightened significantly as her mother granted her permission. Tip-toeing forward, Kaori looked at the flower with a heightened sense of interest, her eyes shining as she observed it. Soon enough, when her curiosity grew, she reached towards the plant to prod at it with a delicate paw, just to see what would happen if she did this.

The end result was anticlimactic and despite the lack of thrill, Kaori turned from the plant and towards her mother with a giggle and dancing eyes. She was tickled pink by this plant and hoped that her mother shared the same sentiments.

The flower was prodded at, which had the dragoness watching closely. Would it be crushed? Seemed not, which she was thankful for. Though the flower itself wasn’t exactly useful, and had already been plucked from the earth, she still felt that it was important for all forms of life to be respected and nurtured—plants especially, for many species could not protect themselves. It was their job to watch over the flora and ensure that it remained healthy, rather than contribute to its death and (eventual) extinction.

Given Kaori’s overall reaction, the mother was struck by an idea. “Would you like to see a place where it grows?” she asked. It would be a bit of a walk, but it’d be worth it in the end. If ever the leaves were needed and Asterr was not around to provide them, it would be good to know that at least one of her children knew how to find the plant.

Once she'd readied herself, Asterr led the girl away in order to see the plant where it grew, and allowed for her to investigate it in any which way that she might have wanted to. Afterwards, the pair returned to the den and the mother ushered Kaori inside, leaving her to nap whilst the Chieftess herself remained outside for a short while longer.
