All Welcome
Things'd been boring since Valette was away for a bit, and so there had been no more sledding. But Nikai had worked on his pounce, because Adeline had told him that he could catch mice some day soon if he would practise a lot. He had caught so many sticks that he didn't even remember how many, and had eaten the bark off of even more sticks. Nikai adored spending time with his family, and he was glad to keep @Keoni entertained while her biggest idol was out of town. All of his family — Steady, Valette and Keoni — were easily Nikai's most favourite wolves in the world, so it wasn't much of a chore to spend time with his sibling.

Nikai came home to the den bringing a stick, but when he was almost there he noticed something much more interesting. "Keenie! Keenie! Look!" Nikai called out. He stared with widened eyes at the little wounded mouse that sat in the middle of the clearing. With bated breath he stared at it, but he didn't dare bolt for it yet until his sister had seen it, in case it might go away. "It's a mice," he whispered under his breat, mesmerised.

Keoni was no stranger to mice, having had lessons with Grayday in how to hunt them and once, perhaps mostly out of luck, had caught a mouse old and bristled but pretty awesome all the same. But when her brother called out to her, and she lurched out of the den as quickly as she could, the scent of blood and the mouse, by was exciting and amazing all the same.

Stage whispering to to her brother, she said quickly, "let's catch it and eat it. We gots to be sneaky." She told him with an excited wiggle of her rear, quickly contained, since Valette had told her before that one of the aspects of hunting was not to scare your prey away.

Unlike Nikai, Keoni didn't seem too fazed by the appearance of the little mouse. Nikai looked at her when she said they needed to be sneaky, and he nodded. He lowered his body to the ground and waited silently for his sister to further take the lead in the hunt.

She smiled when her brother seemingly agreed, and after a moment thoughts, told him quickly, "I'll go 'round the mouse and it's come toward you. Then you gotta catch it, okay?" She instructed him, eager to perform this catching of the mouse. Should he raise no qualms with this plan, she would begin to enact it by creeping around the mouse, and when he looked ready, racing straight at it in the hopes to send it towards the boy.

"Okay," Nikai agreed to his sister's plan, and he stayed close to the ground, ready for the plan to get into motion. He kept his eyes trained on the little mouse, though when his sister started to circle round, he looked at her occasionally to see where she was at. The mouse hopped a few hops around, though it didn't look like it was going anywhere fast, for there was a limp to its step.

Yet when Keoni burst forward, the mouse suddenly did too. Nikai gasped and lowered himself further as he looked at the mouse go, though its gait was still limpy; but it had gained some speed in the face of terror. Nikai waited until the mouse was close and then, using the tactics he'd learned by playfighting Keoni and Steady and Valette — and playing with sticks — he jumped at the little mouse and managed to grab it between his paws as he slid onto the ground.

The mouse's face peeped out from between his paws and then it jumped up, bumping into Nikai's nose. He looked dazed for a short moment before he snapped his teeth at it and managed to get it (luckily the mouse'd been a bit dazed, too). The struggle was over quick and he dropped the dead mouse to the ground, tail wagging as he looked at Keoni with an accomplished, excited look on his face.
