@Seabreeze :)
Distantly, Trajan recalls Mato telling him that he wished the Roman to acquaint himself with his soon-to-be packmates and while he has fulfilled his promise in regards with Delight, he still hasn't really spent any one on one time with Mato's girlfriend, Seabreeze. Well, they weren't really dating officially, at least, not that the soldier knew of, but until he had time to figure out a better nickname for the girl, that would have to do.
Today, Trajan was doing the usual. He woke up early and went on a border patrol. As he lifts a leg and marks the land, he wonders, not for the first time, if this is the right thing to be doing. Trajan sees a purpose for himself here, in this land, but he also worries for his father. Shadow is not too old yet and his half siblings are growing up and would soon make the choice between venturing and staying. Selfishly, he hopes that at least one of them stays, if only to keep Father company.
A sigh slips past his lips as he weaves around a tree trunk, rubbing against it. Perhaps it would be better to push those thoughts aside for now. Maybe, it was time for him to live in the present for once.

@Trajan
OMG HOW DID I MISS THIS????
OMG HOW DID I MISS THIS????
She rose early in the morning, roused from her slumber by the sinking feeling that follows a nightmare. Never could she recall what plagued her during her rest, but it was bothersome. She wished for nothing but a good night's sleep.
Sighing, she stood up and shook out her limbs, yawning before getting to it. There were many things that a pack in its infancy needed, and she cared for it tenderly. The three of them had been doing a fine job of refreshing the borders, filling the cache, keeping them fed, that she now went about these tasks almost mechanically; they needed to be done, yes, but with less urgency than when they had begun.
It was not long before the scent of the Roman man filled her nostrils and she almost gave him space, slipping inbetween two nestled trees, but perhaps instead she should socialize with her new packmates.
She lets out a small chuff, seaglass eyes waiting for his attention to catch.
hahah thanks for joining :)
A chuff rings softly through the early morning air. Ah. Speak of the devil and he shall come. Slowly, Trajan turns around, mismatched eyes landing gently upon his packmate. He tilts his head, reminiscent of a bird, and dips his head respectfully after a searching look. "Seabreeze, yeah?" the words flow from his tongue easily and slowly, the corners of his lip quirks upwards into the shadows of a smile.
Trajan is torn between stopping to socialise and continuing on his patrol. He supposes he could compromise between the two and cants his head invitingly to his packmate. "Care to join me on a patrol?" If she declines, well, Trajan doubts she would - she didn't seem like the type to do that. He would think about what to do if she did actually choose that option, but for now, Trajan waits patiently for an answer.

She is surprised that he remembers her name. She had been so insignificant in the recruiting process and even more absent until lately. Her head cranes over in a deep bow at the man, and she nods at him.
Yes. Traianus?As she remembered, his name had been quite a mouthful but she enjoyed its heaviness, the many vowels it had contained.
Trajan?This one was a little easier on the tongue.
The fawn weaves between the trees, brushing against them casually before looking back at him.
Of course.She offers a smile in his direction before waiting for him to lead the way.
How have you been?

A soft smile graces the soldier's lips and he inclines his head in a small nod. "Trajan," he says, confirming his name. Truthfully, he does not care as to what Seabreeze wanted to call him, provided that it was not derogatory, of course. Traianus was elegant and traditional; Trajan was easier on the tongue and was the one that many preferred to use.
Seabreeze accepts his offer to go on a patrol, which the Roman finds himself somewhat grateful for. He wishes to get to know her more, but he also wishes to go on a patrol and when made to choose, he often chooses the one that, for some reason, causes most wolves to be upset with him.
It wasn't his fault that he didn't like to spend one-on-one time with idiots with nothing to distract him. Not that Seabreeze was an idiot, not yet at least - he would think about that later, when he'd gathered enough information. For now, however, Trajan has no feelings whatsoever regarding his packmate - it was a state of neutrality. "Good enough," the soldier replies in regards to Seabreeze's question, feeling somewhat amused. Usually, when one asks how the other was, the intention was to start a conversation, not to inquire on whether one was actually good or not. Trajan always found this social convention stupid. Nevertheless, he was smart enough to realise that nothing good would come out of rebelling against it. Besides, it amused him.
"What about you?" Trajan has no interest, not really, but it is what is expected of him and he goes along with it. He lifts a leg and marks a piece of land, before venturing forwards, weaving around a particularly large tree trunk. There is a stab of pain somewhere but it does not bother him and he continues on. For a moment, he detects a strangeness to his left and he pauses, muscles tense and alert before confirming it to be nothing more than a rabbit.

sorry i'm terrible.
there's also literally nothing to respond to because she isn't going to force conversation so i'm so.. sorry

She had remembered his name and with all of her recurring brain-fog she was glad she could reach back that far. Quickly she surmised that he was not one for conversation and responded with an equally devoid (but still polite, neutral)
About the same,and rubs herself across the various trees that are between them.
The same rabbit catches her attention which brings the caches to her attention but that is something for later in the afternoon, once she has made more progress with properly introducing herself. There were enough wolves here now to keep it stocked that she didn't need to be so neurotic.
She relaxes and breathes in deep, the smell of the other's sea-salt intriguing her because it reminded her of the way others described her (because of course, individuals are often nose-blind to themselves).
Where do you come from?
