Meadowlark Prairie Birdsong

Aura could hear birds — they were all around her, in the tall grasses, singing to one another. It was a lovely sound, and peaceful, to her. She meandered through the prairie without a care in the world — except, perhaps, the whereabouts of her mate. She'd not seen him in some days, but she could not worry in an environment like this. Taking a deep breath, the girl allowed herself to fall to her side, so that she could relax for a few minutes.

Viriren was prowling on his own, still hungry for battle after that dog fled from him. He spotted a shewolf, seeemingly lounging in an open area. An easy target for him. He stalked over to her and let out a bark when he was a few paces away. His face was cold and his stance was dominant and tense. His purpose was obvious.

He tracked his mate, to a field. She wasn't alone. He stalked up to her coming to stand beside her, A snarl ripping from his throat, as he came to face the male. "Leave, now." He knew there were wolves out there who took advantage of the weaker just for sport, but he absolutely despised them. His form trembled with rage at his mate having been threatened in such a way. He knew she was smart and could have easily gotten herself out of any trouble. He also knew that she wouldn't be interested in him scarring his face right now. "I have a surprise for you, lets get out of here." He whispered conspiratorially to her. It was the only way he'd be able to control himself, gaining distance between himself and the other wolf.

Normally, Aura would had left when confronted, but this male, to come up to her for no reason in such a manner, it rubbed her the wrong way. She'd been doing nothing. She was angry, and about to confront him, before her mate showed up. Perfect timing, she thought.

She ignored the stranger, and instead dipped her head to Holo and set off following him wherever he might lead her.

Virien would not settle for allowing them to leave peacefully. He stepped in front of the male, snarling. "Fight me." he growled. "or I kill your dame." he snapped.

Holo took a deep calming breath as he walked away the other wolf with Aura. The male continued shouting at them, desperately trying to push him into a fight. Nah, we're good, later dude. Holo shouted over his shoulder as he led his mate away.
