All Welcome
For Xenon!

With a large majority of the Kvarsheim wolves attending the Great Hunt, the diminished numbers guarding the borders appealed to an opportunistic coyote. It got halfway into the territory before Arrax saw it, golden eyes glinting as he rushed at the infiltrator. It ran, of course, but the boy wasn't content to simply chase it off.

He had snapped several times at its rear end during the pursuit, eager to rip its tail right off so as to have a trophy to show to his parents when they returned. But the creature was quick, and it knew the land better than Arrax; it slipped from his sight as soon as they hit the Lowlands, its scent lost among the myriad of smells of the desert.

It was here the Cairn found himself in a golden field far from the Stone Circle, with nothing to show for his chase but empty, aching paws and an ignited temper.

As of late Leto had not been one to wander, flanking Juarez where she could and staying put when she could not. Today had been different however, finding herself in a valley that she did not know.

Never one to shy away from a stranger, she was rather excited when she spotted another walking about the field. Noting his expression, she chose to call out to the boy. "What has you so frustrated?" She asked, speaking as though they had met once before.

She wondered where he may have come from. His scent was strong, and spoke of other wolves.

A voice called out, the amicable tone almost grating against his frayed nerves. However, it was not the stranger's fault his prey escaped, so Arrax took a moment to suck in a breath to calm himself before lifting his head and looking in the direction the question had come from.

In any other environment, she would have stood out with her stark white coat, but here against the glare of the sun and the yellow grasses, it was difficult at first to spot her. As his eyes adjusted, a tall woman came into focus.

"Nothing," he grunted in response, before his mother's face flashed in his mind, giving him a disapproving look for being so hostile to a stranger. His tail flicked. "A trespasser got away."

A response provided, she trotted in the direction of the other. At his words she noted the coyote that she had seen run by some time ago - the thing looked terrified out of its mind.

She would not mention it, of course. That would only add salt to the wound if she was correct that it was his trespasser. "Did you at least give it a good scare?" She asked. If that was the case, at least it was unlikely to return.

Golden eyes continued their hardened stare into the mid-distance, unwilling to look the stranger in the eye out of shame, but her comment did have him crack what could almost be construed as a smile. He let out a quiet, contemplative hum before answering, "I think I did."

Well, he had that win at least. Still, the boy's jaws ached from the unfulfilled promise of trespasser blood. He just needed to be faster, stronger...more like his father. "The next one won't be so lucky," he added gravely after a beat, as if in promise to himself.

She let out a gentle laugh, thinking back to the borders of her birth pack. "It is quite satisfying to catch a trespasser, isn't it?"

Leto was not one to bite without reason. Only once had she felt the need to deeply injure a trespasser - a coyote that had attempted to take off with one of her younger siblings, who was only a few months old. Otherwise she often chose to only give chase.

"Coyote's are quick. You would need to improve your own speed - endurance too." She said with a nod. "You look rather young, though. It shouldn't be hard."
