Luke wanted to know if Peregrine had spoken to his sister lately. His lips pursed, sensing an implication in the question. "I saw her when my children were born," he said. That had been about a month ago. "How is she?" he asked offhandedly. If something was amiss, Luke probably would have mentioned it right off the bat—or someone from the plateau would have sent word. Peregrine shrugged, dismissing his misgivings.
