"Actually," Peregrine said aloud, "you did a damn good job. But, yeah, you gotta watch your feet. And make sure you're aiming. But you did a really good job, buddy," the proud father said, moving forward to pat Nightjar's head. "Everything the piss touches is our kingdom," he murmured with a chuckle, nipping at the tip of the boy's upright ear before asking, "Wanna try again? Or maybe later?" Peregrine guessed Nightjar might not be too eager for a repeat so soon after messing his paw.
