You are my sunshine, my only sunshine

June shook her lithe head, sending her silken fur flying in a cascade of mane which outlined her features. Mason smiled at her, waiting patiently, understanding that it may take her some time to process what he had said and to respond. She had always taken great care in absorbing words and attempting to reply.




Mason smiled gently when June spoke, her syllable more than sufficient for his purpose. He nodded firmly, hoping to smooth away the frown that marred her pretty face. He danced towards her this time, silent as a ghostly shadow, and once close enough he gently lifted a paw and tapped her shoulder.

“Cat!” He woofed with enthusiasm. “Cat meee!” and with those words he was off. He ‘raced’ with careful slowness to his movements, dancing away from June and towards a large pine tree. As he reached its trunk he turned around to ensure she was indeed attempting to catch him, before he sidled around the trunk.
