As if the caldera wolves weren't protective enough, Elwood Jr's arrival really upped the ante. Peregrine doubled his hunting efforts and added in an extra patrol or two as well. It meant he didn't see as much of his mate, kids or Pan as he liked but it was important that he keep the newest member of his family (and the puppy's exhausted parents) safe and well-fed.

He was on a patrol when a howl rose up at the borders. He snarled sharply in response, his ears pinning backward. Peregrine broke into a run to intercept the wolf who dared to march up to his borders demanding an audience with his pack mate. Never mind the fact that Sebastian wasn't here; the Alpha would make it very clear how little he thought of strangers barking orders from his doorstep.

Of course, it gave him pause when the wolf turned out to look just like Sebastian, albeit slightly paler and with a bobtail. Perhaps this was the tank's infamous father then. Even less pleased now, the swarthy Alpha wolf hastened his step. Instead of bothering with words, he snapped his jaws and bristled. It was impossible to misread his body language, which said, You aren't welcome here.
